Topic: Pianoteq not launching macOS

Having an issue with Pianoteq 7 (7.5.4).  It started a little while ago and I think I figure out what is causing it.   Running macOS 12.6.  I will boot the computer and launch Pianoteq with no issue.  If I go and launch Chrome and have it stay open in the background then close Pianoteq, then try to reopen Pianoteq, it will not load.  The icon will continuously bounce. Force quit  and try repeatedly, no go.  If I close Chrome then try to relaunch, it will work again.

I keep Pianoteq 6 installed as well and it does not do this.  works with chrome open.

Seems to have just started.  I may fiddle with any extensions I have open in chrome, but I haven't changed anything recently so I wonder.

I have the exact same problem since a few weeks. I didn't figure it had to do with chrome but I will look into it. Thank you for your suggestion, and let us post here if we find a solution.

Update: I tried to quit chrome but unfortunately Pianoteq refuses to launch. I have two user profiles on my computer, and the strange thing is that Pianoteq works on one of them but not the other. I suspect changing auto output might cause the problem somehow. I regularly change between built in speakers, headphones, a pair of bluetooth earbuds and a RME babyface pro FS audio interface. The problem seems to occur after switching between them. Any idea?

Yes, mine started a few weeks ago as well. I am not sure closing chrome is the definitive answer or just helps aid whatever the problem is to resolve.  Closing chrome definitely helps my situation.  I do force quit the program if it is stuck in the not booting scenario as well.   The odd time it will still not launch.

This helps me...   if pianoteq is not loading, force quit the bouncing app icon.  open chrome, then close chrome...   then try to launch pianoteq.. it should open again.  perhaps open and closing chrome reinitializes an audio driver that is locked up.

So the, open Chrome / close Chrome fix, some times works. I am back at V6 now.  V7 rarely launches anymore,  I have tried wiping out preferences and reinstalling.  I am not sure if others have this issue as well?

V6 works without issue.

I still have this problem. It seems to be worse when I've been switching users on my Mac or have been switching between different audio outputs in other programs. I often have to restart before using Pianoteq but after I've done that it always works.
