Warmest regards,
Chris
Thanks for sharing.
It sounds good in the video. Perhaps a hybrid of sampling and modelling?
It's a nice looking thing too. If it was my £2.1k I would be looking for the best possible keyboard action though. It's slim like an entry level keyboard - is it compromised in the same way?
That said fast trilling on a single key isn't exactly a mainstream requirement perhaps?
Assuming you have a decent computer and good sound system £2k + could buy you full Pianoteq and a pretty good keyboard or two, or even three for layering, and still leave you with change.
6000 is about £600 cheaper with the 5000 coming in under £1k with the same hybrid grand action with wooden keys.

I suspect from a performance perspective the longer premium grand hybrid key actions (even if they were to be made without aesthetically pleasing wooden centers) would be noticeably superior even to these; perhaps VPC1 too if it's in good condition.
I suggest the wood keys here is much more about psychology and cosmetics than engineering excellence your going to feel at your fingertips.
The pivot point and length being much more important I suspect.
Then again convenience trumps absolute performance nearly all the time. These things take batteries!
The 5000 with the same hybrid grand action as that 7000 could be an interesting keyboard to compare to the Roland A88 MK2, VPC1, Studiologic Grand and others around the £1k price point.
Also having battery operation option might appeal to some looking for flexibility?

Ha ha, I can see this style being polarising.
It reminds me of the clavinet:https://images.app.goo.gl/AJdQS21ngKJFQW728
I think Casio should have expanded the colour scheme to the back of the unit, instead of the light grey. The grey there does it no favours, otherwise the design feels retro and homely.
Also that thick U bar holding the three foot pedals will likely be very welcome for some and not others.
Very good for stability. Non of that annoying wandering about the floor.
The broad strong legs should give it excellent stability too.
It's an interesting design.
Re: Casio announces new pianos
I doubt that's got an action worth 2k Elisabeths.

£2k's worth of Charlie to blow could be misconstrued!
Giving it has exactly the same action in the £1k PX-S5000 that's a given. If that's all you were after. Indeed that's why I looked for the bottom of that range.
Really I would like to see how that action varies from slightly cheaper models anyway - other than bits of wood to make them look pretty, "authentic" or whatever.

Oh dear, it's another £150 just for the mustard yellow as seen in the video, maybe the literature will say "as used by"
Greedy wotsits..
EDIT:
For the price difference you could possibly pick up this graded hammer action keyboard with 3 pedals and soft fall lid which is supposed to be $200 USD!!!, try to find it though..

A spare piano for the price difference on a fake paint finish!

@Key Fumbler
Did I get something wrong?
The NUX WK-310 is 600€ here in germany. Several stores offer it.
Can it be you misheard it?
I think Jeremy See sais "For a mere few hundred dollars", not "a mere two hundred dollars". (Starting at 11:38).
Anyway, nice find. Wasn't aware of a "NUX".
A yellow spray can is 5 bucks btw.

21 seconds in.
No I didn't mishear it.
Near the beginning of the video, 21 seconds in he actually says it is a mere "couple of hundred of dollars". I went back and checked it.
He makes out it is a mega bargain untouchable by the Japanese offerings in terms of value for money, not average value for money.
I brought the Nux into the conversation because the price differential on a plastic or spray finish on that premium Casio being roughly the same price as the Nux keyboard possibly highlights a certain complacency.
In one regard the Nux is actually more sophisticated as furniture - it's got a fall board!
OTOH that Nux has dated clunky looking electronic interface. It's not slick like a new Japanese model. The way to switch sounds looks like it belongs on a cheaper device.
It's fascinating - Bluetooth, MIDI USB, graded hammer action, surprisingly sophisticated touches like that red strip of felt and that fall board, and three pedals on 200 dollar (Asian market) entry level product.
Because it is such an unusual beast I can imagine that EU and local music shops could even buy them in at retail (not trade) prices, pay the import tax and still make a reasonable profit.
It has that clunky mix of slightly crude dated looking electronic interface elements and (probably scary for established manufacturers) value for money in other important mechanical regards. These are the Chinese sweat shop manufacturing elements being realistic.
Chinese manufacturer. Mainly known so far for guitar FX pedals it seems:

Ah, ok. Yes, the casing looks cheap. Especially when he showed it from underneath i thought the built quality isn't great. The way the speakers are attached was even a little funny.

Yeah, it's an unusual mix. Ignoring those various odd elements as a surprisingly sophisticated MIDI controller it would be silly VFM, if it can be sourced closer to the Asian market price.
If these are their first efforts the main players have reason to worry. Then again we have no way of knowing how well their keyboard keys will stand up to long term playing. For small children, the infirm and senior citizens perhaps those robustness questions could be irrelevant. Advanced players and heavy handed players might want to find out what the key mechanisms look like under the hood.
Re: Casio announces new pianos
Back to that cheekily overpriced yellow premium portable - it's got great sounding presets for built-in sounds, especially for EP sounds:
Bearing in mind exact same keys as the £1k version anyway. Studiologic Grand is slightly cheaper than the 5000 Casio - if all you want is a good looking controller.
EDIT:
That's quite a dumb (rushed presumably) demonstration in some ways. Good on the internal sounds though.
The presenter took what I would have thought is a bag for the legs for the "portable keyboard" by the look of it and suggested it was a dust cover for the keys!
Also he seemed lost on the arpeggiator.
They also didn't build up the stand or the pedals mount - I suggest that part of it is the lion's share of what makes it more expensive than the models below it.
