Variations on "Ode to Joy" from Beethoven's 9th Sym. "Ode to Joy" is best known for its use by Ludwig van Beethoven in the final (fourth) movement of his Ninth Symphony.

another excellent job!  i really liked the one in Db and the longer drifting one starting around 4:15 that carries it out.  also the brief one with big spread out voicings moving in parallel started to sound like Red Garland ... just a few tweaks and it would be there. 

it's obvious from listening to these that you've internalized a big vocabulary to draw from for improvising.  any one of them could easily be turned into a longer performance.  and i'm sure Beethoven would have approved, he was renowned for his ability to improvise (or so i've always heard).  i certainly hope you will continue to do more.

Stig, this is wonderful. You seem to have unearthed a hidden talent you have for composing variations. Each one shows a different facet of the theme and you are able to make the music sound whole and unified.
