Re: New Pianoteq Album (8 of 8)

Let’s see what goes through my mind while listening to the final 6 recordings (of 49) from the Piano Revealed album

Legend Embellished
Embellish often has the positive meaning of adding something, to a legend, story or a famous person.
It may sound strange but I think of the three musketeers riding horses, the music brings to mind the horses’ hooves.

The Old Cossack
This is clearly a proud Cossack who comes riding after he got privileges from the Russian government in return for military services

Very Heavy Cold Raindrops
My thoughts go to one of the most iconic piano works, Chopin Prelude Op. 28, No. 15 ”Raindrop”, but this is in a ”new” short version and faster because the drops are heavy and cold.

Silver Stream
The words and your music tell how the moon lights the night, creating silver fruit upon silver trees…Could also be part 2 in Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, as a change with adding a little speed.

The Ghostly Rocking Chair
Dreaming about a rocking chair is a symbol of comfort and safe. Many adults find rocking chairs soothing because of the gentle motion but, this rocking chair music is actually a bit ghostlike, so I would probably get seasick from sitting in the ghostly rocking chair.
There is something from the classical music in it, but can not say which composer this time.

Mirrors

You make make undoubtledly amazing music. This immediately reminds me of the Spanish composer Albeniz and his piece Asturias. This is incredibly clean! You really bring out something wild in this piece! To me, this is a beautiful piece. My favorite this time.

It has been a very enriching experience to listen to all your pieces of music several times and at the same time write down thoughts I had while listening.
As they say: learning is a lifelong process. Thank you for reading my comments.

And Good Luck with your new piano method !

Stay well and safe and continue composing,

Stig

Re: New Pianoteq Album (8 of 8)

I very much enjoyed the images you described seeing while listening to all these pieces.

In the method, Legend is introduced first, then later Legend Embellished appears with all sorts of added articulations and such. I like your imagery of the three musketeers, and can definitely see where you get the horses' hooves from.

Mirrors is the final piece in the final book. It was commissioned by a NASA scientist who was interested in a piece that would help him get back into piano playing, with an educational/technical slant. I thought he might appreciate something that was constructed in a logical/symmetrical way--hence the mirror images throughout. Here's an old video of it on a Steinway D that wasn't in quite as good condition as Pianoteq's:

And thanks once again Stig.
