Topic: Velocity in DORICO 3.5

Hi guys,

I'm a Dorico user but I'm not able to manage this: I want the dynamic markings in the score to control the velocity of the performance instead of the velocity curve.
Does anyone know how to achieve this?

To be more specific, it happens only with flows that had the velocity lane previously configured. With new flows, the DYNAMIC markings seem to override the velocity lane. Is there any form to get rid of the "influence" of the velocity over dynamics and vice-versa?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Velocity in DORICO 3.5

Hi mortegae,

This is really a Dorico question not a Pianoteq one, but here goes.

Normally the dynamics in the score decide the velocity and the velocity lane just shows you what was decided. But if you change a velocity in the velocity lane then the new changed velocity overrides the score dynamics.

To get back to using the score dynamics:

1) Go to the Play tab

2) Select the affected notes

(or if you prefer you can select the affected notes in the Write tab before switching to the Play tab)

3) On the Play menu select "Reset Playback Overrides"

(it will appear not to work... the velocity lane will still show the old edited values... but...)

4) As soon as you start playback the velocities will all jump back to their score determined values.
