Topic: Just Messing Around with the Mics
Nothing great here...
just PianoTeq's fantastic mic and piano modelling.
Piano preset used: HB Steinway Model D
Controller used: Yamaha p120s

Very nice indeed, thank you Smilie! I suggest you share your fxps in the fxp corner.
Very nice indeed, thank you Smilie!
Thank you for the encouragement...

Very sweet sounds - thanks Smilie - good to see your postings - and good to hear your inspired FXP, a very tasteful Steinway D piano sound

Thank you Smilie Could you also post the first fxp, the one "with mics at end of piano"?
Another suggestion: you can add the audio files in the fxp corner too (see Qexl examples), that would allow visitors of the fxp corner to listen to the sound immediately on that page.
Absolutely - that mic array seemed in a lovely sweet spot - I do love the FXP Corner - one of the best things about Pianoteq is being able to share and the more the merrier
Very sweet sounds...
That's is very kind of you. I believe I'm right in saying that you are a sound engineer and to compliment me on my simple tests is something indeed!

Great sound and enjoyable playing! I'll be sure to try those out
Lovely sounds. Very realistic, with great clarity. You’ve opened a new door, here, even if only by experimenting with the mics. I think the fxp with mics at the end of piano will be great for accompanying a singer or for a singer-songwriter solo performance. And for recordings like the ones you’ve made.

Thank you!
EDIT: would it be too much if I ask you to upload also the MIDI file of "Amazing Grace"? I love it, and it would allow me to listen to it fifty time in a row without saturating the net
Very delicate and beautiful, Smilie, and a different approach to the mics that brings a feel unlike what we are used to. Shows off the versatility of Pianoteq.
Indeed. Thank you, Smilie !
Beautiful work Smilie, very well done,
Warmest regards,
Chris
Just downloaded these settings, very much looking forward to trying them out. Definitely agree with the thoughts of other posters here. I have a feeling they might also sound good if blended together (i.e., copy & paste the mic positions from 'far' onto mics 3 & 4 of 'close', adjust levels to taste). With Pianoteq, the possibilities are endless!

I though I'd lost it as I didn't save the performance - but PianoTeq has archived everything I've ever played on it - so here it is...
Great sound and enjoyable playing!
Thank you for your kind words
Lovely sounds.
I'm only just beginning to scratch the potential of this marvelous programme.
Very delicate and beautiful [...] shows off the versatility of Pianoteq.
I love the fact that Pianoteq responds rather than dictates "Here's the only sound you're going to get - like it of lump it!" as some other programmes do.
Thank you
No, thank you for taking the time to listen and comment.
Beautiful work...
It's amazing [excuse the pun] what a flexible approach to Velocity Curves can achieve.
With Pianoteq, the possibilities are endless!
They certainly are many and varied. You spoke of copying microphones over to other slots - haven't looked into that yet. Is it easy to do?
All-in-all, thanks everyone for your encouragement. I'm self-taught and not that confident in my ability to do justice to the music I stumble my way through.
Hat's off to you Smilie - so nice of you - may you always feel encouraged!
Sincerely looking forward to more of your ideas and discoveries and to helping in some way whenever I can, as others I'm sure would feel the same. It's been a pleasure seeing you here, and certainly a smile follows from reading your friendly posts

Thank you very much Smilie. Beautiful introductory chords BTW
@Smilie, re your query on copying mics. Yes, it is quite easy to do, if a bit fiddly. Open 2 presets A and B, lets say your 2 settings 'far' as A and 'close' as B. Now open the mics window. Right click on the mic you want to copy from A (we'll use mic 1), select Copy. Now go to preset B and activate mic 3, then right click on that mic and paste the position you copied from A onto it. You may need to adjust the mic level and mic type. Note that this doesn't work with linked mics, you have to unlink them before you can copy and paste. As I say, there are endless possibilities. For instance, you can import some distant mics from another preset to add to a close mic setting. Have fun!

I see, this just copies over the position. Thanks for your guidance.
