Topic: Freeze Rename doesn't do anything

How does the Favourites / Rename setting work? When I try to 'Rename', what I type does not appear in the list favourites - all slots remain marked "(empty)". Nor does my parameter selection stay when i quit and re-open Pianoteq, even though I select 'Save as default'.

Have i misunderstood this setting or is it just broken?

I'm hoping the idea is to enable making one's freeze parameter selection the default setting - I find the new way introduced in v 7 (selecting them every time Pianoteq is opened) highly annoying.

Re: Freeze Rename doesn't do anything

Hi jakn,

works here.

Just make your selections, click the ... dots, select save and Pianoteq auto-names the slot. For example, I only select to freeze mics, Pianoteq names the slot [mics]

If you want your own name for it, click again the ... dots, select 'rename' and call it what you want in the dialog box and OK.

Select any of your preferred freeze slots, click ... dots and select "make default".

There should probably be no persistent frozen parameters because it would likely be an incredibly persistent cause of help requests to support, like this..

"My pianos all sound wrong when I change from one instrument to the next!"..

"Are you using Freeze parameters?"

"Oops, thanks that was the cause - I had frozen a bunch of things and left it on."

Starting from scratch is made "one-click" when you save your favorites as above.

Hope that all helps.

Re: Freeze Rename doesn't do anything

Excellent, thank you!
It didn't occur to me to save the unnamed setting first - I thought that the default name is '(Empty)' which would get changed after I choose Rename.

It works now.

Yes, I know that's why they changed it and it makes a lot of sense, but because I always freeze some parameters I'm happy that there's this new setting.

So good to hear jakn!

Yeah, I do like so much the new freeze pane. It was altered to make way for the new copy/paste tool, but brought back nearer to original prominence in the interface by popular demand.

And as a bonus, given extras like the favorites and ability to set one as default, so no need to have to open it or change it every time.

Happy Pianoteq-ing
