Topic: Any active Yamaha NU1 Pianoteq users? Curious about your settings

I have seen a few older isolated posts by Yamaha NU1 users, but nothing in the last couple of years. Are there any active Pianoteq/NU1 users here? I would love to hear which version and settings you are using. Velocity curve, dynamics, favorite instruments for use with the NU1.

We are just getting started with the NU1 and PT Stage on a Raspberry Pi 4B and am trying to get a realistic sound both in-house in our church and over livestream.

Re: Any active Yamaha NU1 Pianoteq users? Curious about your settings

Hi,

regarding NU1 and pianoteq use, I did several trials around 6-7 years ago and at that time attached two exciters to the NU1 surfaces to improve the sound. It worked nicely, but had some extra effort (cables, amplifier, etc.) The project was discontinued as we moved to another place and I had no PC nearby to my NU1.

Just recently I upgraded to PT8 and tested it again with the NU1. I used a simple standard configuration. The audio output of the sound card (Tascam) was connected to the line-in of the NU1. No exiters were used. I used the plain "U4 player dry" configuration and the overall result sounds really great to me. The piano even vibrates a little and you have the impression that a well tuned acustic piano is in front of you. Not sure if Modartt did tailor the U4 configuration for use with a NU1, but overall it is great work!
