Topic: More on Nellie McKay and recording

To avoid taking the thread about a Baldwin model off-track, I'm creating this new thread derived from its discussion of the video attached to her performance of "Body and Soul" (which is linked to in the Baldwin thread).

I ran across the full video, with the original audio that should accompany it. Has nothing to do with her recording of "Body and Soul," as it turns out. She was challenged by NPR to write and record a song in 3 days. She was touring at the time, so she is often so exhausted on camera that she can barely speak. You may be surprised, listening to her play bits and pieces early on, by the song that emerges. Lovely, again:

I also ran across this MIX article interviewing Geoff Emerick, who did her Doris Day album. An M49 on her voice on that album and AKG C 12's, under many blankets, on her piano to a Neve console to tape. Several more details in the article.

Haven't been able to find the details for the recording of "Body and Soul," yet, but we do know that she was playing one of McPartland's Baldwins--it was part of her second performance on "Piano Jazz": https://www.npr.org/2010/12/03/13178549...piano-jazz . No video of that performance, unfortunately, as far as I can tell.

Regardless, now we need a modelled Baldwin AND a model of the AKG C 12 mic. And Nellie McKay to sing for us...
