Topic: MIDI recording in VSTi mode

Bonjour,

When I use Pianoteq as VSTi in Reaper, the MIDI recording of Pianoteq is disabled.
I would like it to be enableable.
Is there a way to do this ?
Thanks !

Re: MIDI recording in VSTi mode

Confirmed but is it a bug in Reaper?
Effectivement... mais est-ce un bug de Reaper ?

Re: MIDI recording in VSTi mode

Bonjour Gérard,

With the last version Pianoteq 6.7.3 pro of June, used as vsti x64 in the last version of Reaper x64 v6.12c, I have no problem to record in Reaper what I play on the keyboard and export it by the rest in midi format. On the other hand, in fact, the "standalone" recording function of pianoteq is not present, which is probably normal when Pianoteq is used as a vsti.

Re: MIDI recording in VSTi mode

Thanks Luc and bm.
I know that it is not a bug in Reaper but the normal behaviour of Pianoteq as VSTi.

I've never had any problems recording to MIDI in Reaper.
What I want to do:
When I am in Reaper with Pianoteq in VSTi, not have to start Reaper recording, but that Pianoteq records and stores my improvisations until I am satisfied, and then drag my small bits of MIDI in my Reaper track to rework them.
Nevertheless since yesterday I found a workaround:
When my Reaper/Pianoteq session is open, I disable recording, launch a Pianoteq standalone instance (with the focus on Pianoteq over the Reaper GUI) and play...Then I drag and drop my .mid files from the Pianoteq archive to my Reaper track, and voilà...
Actually that's the way I've been doing it for a long time with Pianoteq, except that I just realized that I could have Reaper and Pianoteq open at the same time...

That's an excellent workaround! The only problem I've found with importing midi from Pianoteq to Reaper is that sometimes the tempo is wrong - I'm not sure how to fix that.

I didn't get the opportunity to notice that.
Anyway it's not a problem for me, the first thing I do when I import a file from Pianoteq into Reaper is changing the playback speed.

The tempo thing doesn't bother me too much either. I mostly use standalone for rough sketches, if I'm doing anything tempo-critical I'll just stay in Reaper.
