Topic: Feature request : Bass and Piano split ( for Steinway B )

Some of the pianos have a bass and piano split preset which is nice to have.  The Steinway B does not, so I'm suggesting this would be a handy feature for a later version.

The bass and piano split is so handy I'd go as far as to suggest all pianos should have one (or maybe even a bass as a separate instrument - we don't all like or use DAWs).  I'd love it to be on e.g. the C. Bechstein from Kremsegg 2 (would be kind of odd on the C Graf, mind you :-) ).

Anyway, specifically for the Steinway B, as it's nice piano for jazz ( aren't they all ? :-) ).

Thanks.

Hi there!

In case you don't wanna wait too long? On FXP Corner there's put up 3 flavors for you on the Steinway B Bass & Piano split.

Best regards.

Impressed.  Not quite up to my late mother's apple pie, but pretty good. :-)

Thanks.

One question : How ?

Re: Feature request : Bass and Piano split ( for Steinway B )

Thanks, Stephen,

Hope you enjoy, but it is nothing special anyway to do.

This is actually a piece of grandmothers cake :-) Don't know if you use Pianoteq Pro.. If so, then adjust the spectrum profile in the note edit window. The Bass & Piano split preset has quite a specific spectrum. You could loosen the dampers a bit in the low register in order to make the bass sound natural sounding.

Best regards

Maybe not special for you to do, but even if I had Pro (I have Standard, which is more than enough for me) I'd not have a clue where to start trying to make an acoustic bass sound from a piano.

When I've mastered Standard (should be about 2035 when I'm 70) I'll consider Pro. :-)  I was actually tempted recently but priorities, priorities ... sigh.

Re: Feature request : Bass and Piano split ( for Steinway B )

The clou is the Pianoteq team has found out for you, how to do that. Basically the lower harmonics are far more enhanced as the upper harmonics.
Anyway they could quite easily model a whole bass instrument like the Fender Rhodes Piano Bass as used by the Doors. As I recollect UVI has a sampler model of it.

Maybe tomorrow will put up on FXP site a split for the C. Bechstein Kremsegg II if you please

Best regards.

Hey, guys, the latest MkII has Modartt FXPs for piano bass...channel that Ray Manzarek!  I can hear the arpeggiated bass chords to Riders on the Storm in my head right now
