Topic: A-B Midi Assignment

Hello there fellow pianoteqers (new word)
I usually use two sounds for my live performance (Piano-Rhodes or Rhodes-Vibes) and I assign the modulation wheel to go from A to B sound.
However the midi change isn't permanent.Everytime I open another project on Ableton (or in standalone) the assignment disappears.
Is there any way that I can make it default?
I don't want to use another channel for the other instrument inside my daw.

Thank you in advance for your answers

Re: A-B Midi Assignment

Hi Silentman, hope this is what you're looking for.

You can save your MIDI assignments in Edit/Preferences/MIDI tab.

Look for the dropdown menu (normally labelled "Minimalistic").

You can save your own MIDI settings files, assign any of those as the default. So, if you make the change you want (assign wheel as desired) then save that to a file called "GigWheel" and make it the default - it will load on startup instead of the current default.

Also, these changes can be selective - either as global, or just relating to individual presets (by selecting a G icon for global or P for preset at left side of the interface).

This way, if you load an instrument preset (like a custom one for a gig like "CleanMixalotl") it can contain differentiated MIDI assignments which might differ from another preset like maybe "Driven-sWhirly" which you might want to assign pitch-wheel control to effects like panning etc. That way you don't have to go to the extra step of loading MIDI files - just load the preset.

So, you could have different setups for each which load when you load them with no fuss.

There was this recent thread about saving MIDI assignments with a similar question - maybe a few more details there.
