Topic: Pianoteq Stage - poor Sound, I'm very disappointed

Aftrer trying the Demo I found poor sound after buying pinaoteq stage.
it sound like a cheap e-piano from 1980 ("steinway D")
I know you want me to buy the pro version, bad that's a bad trick.
Don't try to tell me to try the equalizer. I'v tried for days.

Thank you for nothing.

Re: Pianoteq Stage - poor Sound, I'm very disappointed

Sounds like you didn't adjust the velocity curve properly to your MIDI controller and touch, and you also didn't tell us your audio chain (computer specs, audio interface, which audio driver, which MIDI controller). Also, audio examples of "poor sound" would be welcome, because this is not what other users are getting - and also not what audio demos on the website showcase

Hard work and guts!

Re: Pianoteq Stage - poor Sound, I'm very disappointed

No need to insult us OP.

If you liked the demo enough to buy Stage, what are you doing differently?

Agree with EvilDragon - details are needed to offer help - otherwise it's just guessing.

I'd like to hear an exported audio file or at least a room recording to show us what's going on.

Also a list of gear, what's plugged into what etc. can all help.

Nobody can help without more info and maybe don't say thanks for nothing to those who are trying to help, or for that matter, those who are making this amazing software - it's just wrong - you'll understand as you grow and learn.

Re: Pianoteq Stage - poor Sound, I'm very disappointed

My guess the OP was just trolling, or has a problematic MIDI keyboard with insufficient velocity response for convincing dynamics.
You can make adjustments to the velocity curve for your keyboard in Pianoteq.

Test your controller's velocity response with options>MIDI

Could you explain which cheap e-piano from 1980 do you refer to?
And maybe give us a link so we can hear it and compare?

More seriously, finding the right velocity curve for your keyboard is a first step that has a great impact in the sound.

Re: Pianoteq Stage - poor Sound, I'm very disappointed

Pianoteq stage does not sound any different than Pianoteq standard.
You simply don't have as much adjustable options as standard or pro has.
I started with stage and it was the best pianosound I ever had from a digital setup. Now I run standard because I could upgrade using one of the sales promotions and not because of the better sound. They sound the same, but you can tweak more.

Do you have any other programmes using your sounds at the same time? I remember someone mentioning this in another thread. I notice a shift in the sound if another sound source is playing on my computer. It doesn't always happen, but it can make Pianoteq sound extra bright and thin when it does.

Velocity curve is so important, it shouldn't be overlooked. I don't mind admitting that, when I started with Pianoteq, it took me a while to appreciate the importance of velocity curve. Running Pianoteq with an inappropriate velocity curve is a bit like having an expensive DSLR camera and not knowing how to adjust the exposure settings.

Re: Pianoteq Stage - poor Sound, I'm very disappointed

Pianoteq with poor velocity curves adjustment it's like a good bike with wrong seat height adjustment.

Re: Pianoteq Stage - poor Sound, I'm very disappointed

Hello ;-) Which amplification to use? For to get a very good sound ... Tks.

Re: Pianoteq Stage - poor Sound, I'm very disappointed

What kind of controller are you using? Did you calibrate the velocity curves? Which kind of sound-card/audio-interface and/or amplifier do you have? Which kinds of monitors are you employing? If you are playing on a cheap midi controller with a springy synth action keyboard into a budget laptop and out of its $0.50 speakers, your results are not going to be optimal. I have about a dozen VST piano libraries and Pianoteq 6 is my goto... unless I'm in an Italian mode.

I suspect that good musicianship just might be the missing ingredient.

Hello All.

When one considers this is the Original Poster's first post and it is highly negative with zero supporting evidence, and there is a stark silence from him when fellow members ask for audio examples, perhaps this is the right time for all of us to pull the plug on this one time poster.  Otherwise, we will be "circling the hook" for an indefinite time.

Cheers,

Joe

It is a practice I have noticed regarding ANY software on internet forums. It is probably just a form of trolling - Troll sitting back to enjoy the fall out. Maybe user incompetence, but it could of course be attacks from the competition, wishing to create doubt about rivals products.

Re: Pianoteq Stage - poor Sound, I'm very disappointed

In a democratic world it should be preferred not to use an authoritarian principle of "blocking" the *sshol**, but to ignore them. So the real issue about this thread is not that the OP is a troll (he/she is), but that we just didn't ignore the empty claims (after the first response asking for more info and the resulting silence).

Best regards to all!
