Topic: Intermezzo (Steinway D - distant micing)

My little piano piece - inspired by Italian opera of all things.

Pre-set is one shared by our friend Nathan. It involves a Steinway D with a healthy dose of distant micing.

Always enjoy hearing your feedback - like how it sounds on your system. Any recommendations?

Greetings from California.

Listened to this before Christmas, but in the rush of things I didn't get round to leaving a comment. This is beautiful, and the 'concert hall' (or should that be 'opera house'?) setting suits it really well. I love the 'verismo' ending!

Yes, agree with dazric - such a good performance and sound. This really suits the Steinway D and there are some really affecting tones there with the touch/chords and lingering melody notes. Very engaging.

Re: Intermezzo (Steinway D - distant micing)

The large dance hall of the city theatre is empty.
It's a Sunday morning, no one should be here.
I'm here to pick up my scarf I forgot last night.
And I hear a piano...
I peek through the half-opened door.
As if coming out of the 19th century, a strange, diaphanous and long-haired man, dressed in a redingote and adorned with a lavaliere, sits in front of the good old piano.
And I stay here, under the spell of this beautiful music.

Would not change a thing! Sounds good even on my computer speakers. Distant miking and some reverb seem to be appropriate for this piece. I'll have to try out that combination some day.

Love the direct connection between you, your grandmother, and your immensely rich Italian heritage. You captured that beautifully.
