Topic: Triple sustain pedals doesn't work

I just got my new keyboard(studiologic sl88grand) and  triple sustain pedals (slp3-d) last week, there are four pedals cables(1.switch 2.switch 3 continuous 4.universal) on the keyboard.
if I use cable1.switch can control sustain pedal and cable2.swich controls soft pedal, but only only one pedal works, the other two doesn't work.
Sostenuto pedal and harmonic pedal can't be use, how to set triple sustain pedals (slp3-d) in Pianoteq ?

Re: Triple sustain pedals doesn't work

Good morning
I just purchased an SL88 Grand.
First thing you have to configure once the keyboard. Open the SL editor software, chose the preset you want to use, and select "SLP3D" on the pedal port 4 setting;
set pedal ports 1, 2 and 3 off. In my case I have set pedal port 1 on CC69 to use the single switch pedal that came with the keyboard as Harmonic pedal.
For pure pianistic use I also suggest in the preset you use for piano only to disable aftertouch

Re: Triple sustain pedals doesn't work

Just had some unusual 'need to think about it' before getting it to work on my SL88 studio, so writing down for those that it may help:

1. Plug the SLP3-D in pedal plug #4 (Universal)
The one trick that is non-obvious is that activation of the pedal needs to be done on each zone of each program where you intend to use the pedal, so:
2. rotating the rotary knob, select the program you want to use (P001-P256)
3. tilting the rotary knob, move the white selection rectangle to the instrument section and select the instrument/zone you want to associate the pedal with, and select it with the 'in' button (top-right = arrow pointing to you)
4. tilting the rotary knob downward, move the selection  entry until it shows 'PEDAL 4:' (that's 4 pages down the menu on the current firmware, so be persistent)
5. tilt the rotary know to the right: that will land you on a (quite long) pedal function selection menu, which by default displays an expression pedal associated to 'EXPRESSION' function.
The second non-obvious trick is that this is where you will end up, at the end of the long menu showing all CCs, finding the multifunction pedals: SLP3-D, NTP, SL VP25, VFP1: so:
6. tilt the rotary button downward, and keep it pressed until it goes down to the bottom of the selection (which ends with the VFP1) and push it upward twice to get back to the SLP3-D one page above,
7. exit the selection with the 'out' button (middle-right, arrow pointing away from you) and check that the PEDAL 4 is now assigned to SLP3-D
8. repeat for each zone where you need it to work (in particular, if you have separate usb and midi outputs on identical midi channels, it may sound redundant that you need to repeat it, but think twice and, ah! it's very flexible indeed)
9. last but not least... DON'T FORGET TO SAVE THE PROGRAM: Home (=bottom right btn) -> in -> in -> push rotary knob

Re: Triple sustain pedals doesn't work

Old topic but I still need advice, please.

I have the SL88 Studio and I would like a pedal for :

1.    Sustain
2.    Sostenuto
3.    Una corda

Will the SLP3D work in Pianoteq 7?  Will it work in my NI Library Pianos?  Everywhere I read I see issues with this pedel and its claims.  Is it worth the $100 cost?

Thanks
Dan

Re: Triple sustain pedals doesn't work

I've got the SL88 grand and it works fine with pianoteq.
As far as I know now you don't have much pedal-possibilities with NI ! (I only got sustain-function with NI - and you can turn on re-pedaling and half-pedal but more!?)

and about the SLP3D: After a few month I found out it's a bit loud - oiling it helped! the noise didn't bother me much because I play with headphones most of the time and it was only with the right pedal (the one with half-pedal-function).

on a hard floor it is sliding a bit. I was considering building something with like those mats you put under washing machines. but since one month I'm using a book in front of the pedal so my heel is more even with the pedal and now it's sliding close to zero.

I don't know If you have much other options? and It was quite easy to install. works with one cable to the universal-plug...

greetings

Thanks for info, much appreciated.
Planning to purchase the SLP3D but after searching the web I have concluded that reports are not favorable. So trying to work with two pedals ( Switch 1 sustain and Switch 2 sostenuto). But the editing in either the keyboard or the SL editor will simply not SAVE the options. I assume I will figure this all out but it should not be this hard.

Re: Triple sustain pedals doesn't work

A few years ago I bought a triple pedal SLP3D, thinking it would work with my SL990Pro keyboard as it is a StudioLogic one.
And I end up with a tool that I can only use a third of.
I kept it, thinking that maybe one day I could afford an SL88Grand. Now I think that day will never come...

Re: Triple sustain pedals doesn't work

I recently mended my VPC1 F-30 pedal. It seems as though it required moving one cog or two and adding an extra foam pad to keep it in place.

And Gaston, your playing sounds great on whatever keyboard you are using.

In the future I would like a 'real' upright piano to replace my 84 year old Minx Piano, but at the moment my VPC1 (very modified), is still performing well.

I think the best keyboard in the world is the one we own, not the one we dream of...
