Topic: Occasional distorted sound with WA

On Windows 10, I've recently switched to using an audio DAC with Windows Audio (Exclusive), in preference to Asio4all. It sounds great, but a couple of times the sound has gone horribly distorted. Relaunching Pianoteq solved the problem, but it's very irritating and I don't want it happening in the middle of an important project. The only thing that I can think of that might have caused the distortion was opening a web browser or something while Pianoteq was still open, would that be the case, or could it be something else?

Re: Occasional distorted sound with WA

Yes, if you opened a web browser and you used exclusive mode, it could be that sample rate was changed by the web browser, while it remained the same in Pianoteq. You would hear this as deterioration in audio output by the first started program (in this case Pianoteq).

Use shared mode if you want to do things like this.

OK, that explains it. I don't usually have anything else open when I use Pianoteq for playing or recording, but sometimes I open up Pianoteq to refer to something when I'm on the forum.

There you have it then

Re: Occasional distorted sound with WA

Best to use a computer dedicated to Pianoteq, with internet disconnected.

I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order

Re: Occasional distorted sound with WA

Not really. Just use WASAPI in shared mode.
