Topic: clicks and pops in Logic Pro

Hi - I'm having issues with clicks and pops, and they seem to be especially problematic in Logic Pro.

My setup:
- 2013 Macbook Pro
- quad-core i7 CPU 2600mhz
- 16 GB RAM, 1TB SSD
- El Capitan, Pianoteq 6.1
- Logic Pro X 10.3.2 (not the latest update, but very close)

- multicore rendering on, CPU overload detection on
- 44100 hz sample rate, buffer set to 128
- no applications running in the background, no anti-virus.

Here is the strange scenario I've encountered: If I open Logic Pro, load up Pianoteq, and drag my mouse across Pianoteq's visual keyboard with the sustain pedal down, there are no troubles. I get a performance index of around 134, and polyphony of 200+.

However... as soon as I play notes through Logic - either the 'musical typing' keyboard that lets you play notes using your laptop keyboard, or via MIDI (I use an M-audio USB adaptor), troubles begin. Performance index will drop to 103, and crackles and pops will occur with only 60 or 70 notes. I know it's not the USB adaptor, as I can create these issues with nothing plugged into my laptop, just using the musical typing feature.

Any suggestions of what's going on?

Wayne

Re: clicks and pops in Logic Pro

I'm still getting my head wrapped around Logic X (no problems in Garage Band!) - but here's a few things you can check ...

1. Turn on Low Latency Mode. It's specifically for recording/tracking (as opposed to mixing).
Logic X > Preferences > Audio | General

2. Change the I/O Buffer, it might be too large or too small.
Logic X > Preferences > Audio | Devices
