Re: hi and I love U4

hahahhahahaha
excellent!!!!!
I've got a few other piano vst's.
Pianoteq, is one of my favorites of the bunch.
and am really really extra digging U4. it is a must buy.

Re: hi and I love U4

Hi
I like U4 too. And the honky tonk sound. With some modifying it reminds me of an upright Hellas Helsinki piano I played in school. Nice that U4 came up. No one talks about here.

Re: hi and I love U4

Thank you very much for your reply. :-)
I gotta tell ya.
I have been playing piano vst's for a few years now.
And I am plain thrilled and overjoyed with Pianoteq's U4.
Just frickin crazy about it.
And amazed at that.
All the Grand's I have.
And the U4 is a lowly upright.
Things that make me go hmmmmmm.
I gotta stop listening with my eyes, and with my preconceived ideas, about what should, or is supposed to sound good. That way of thinking, so often does NOT work, for me.

Re: hi and I love U4

For me, default presets are too mellow and ideal. Maybe it's just individual, but I associate upright pianos with old and hardly used instruments at living and class rooms, so have hard hammers and usually slightly out of tune. But thanks to Standard version, I increased brightness and detune some default preset and finally get amazing and realistic sound, a typical upright for me ears.

Re: hi and I love U4

All I can get on U4 (demo) is a muffled, echo-y sound.  Wasn`t always like that.  Any ideas, guys?

And I never knew they made pianos in Finland . . .

I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order

Re: hi and I love U4

Well, Hellas and Fazer pianos were made in Finland 1901-2011. Today Hellas pianos and Hellas  Grand are made  in Pearl River factory, China.

Re: hi and I love U4

thank you to all of you.
my opinion of the presets, is that I love them. (My opinion.......I fully respect all other opinions.)

peterws, I have no idea why U4 would sound bad now, and different from before. its on my must buy list.
Ross, thats awesome that you can adjust settings to make so that you like it so much.

I remember years ago reading about Pianoteq. and hearing opinions, and I think I demoed it for a minute. I doubt I gave it a fair chance.
anyway, I had read and heard negative things.
well. that was then.
I love Pianoteq.
I must tell friends about it.

Re: hi and I love U4

make sure that you haven't "frozen" the position of the wall and/or the microphones, otherwise the muted sound may be because the microphones are on the other side of the wall from the piano - that will give muted sound.  Check the microphone/room setup page.

I`m using stage, so I can`t adjust those.  However, if I make it "mono" it comas good.

But I don`t want it mono!

I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order
