Topic: Yamaha P-45 first impressions: Dynamics --> 100!

Hi all, just wanted to give you a quick tip if you consider to buy the new P-45. This is not a review, just impressions.

I started buying the P-35 because it was special offer (the store had two left) but first the box had already been opened and second I was worried about the future of the MIDI interface. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I see more and more sound cards without the 5-pin MIDI. My current Lexicon Lambda has it, but the next one, who knows?

Anyway, I returned the P-35 and paid a little extra for P-45. It has only a USB port, no 5-pin connection. Keyboard action is not perfect, but I was on a budget, so this was my best bet - still better than my previous CME UF8. However, in Pianoteq I had to take the Dynamics slider all the way up to 100% to get something decent out of it (I play mainly classical and some jazz). I experimented a bit with the keyboard's soft, normal, hard settings and with velocities in Pianoteq, but I prefer to keep it normal in both and dynamics at max. For the price, I'm pretty satisfied with this one, sounds are ok if you don't have a computer and key action is decent. Just remember it has only a sustain pedal, headphones, USB and power outputs and nothing more. But I'm happy with it!

Hope it helps if somebody is on a budget like me.
PS Don't forget to download the drivers!
