Topic: Casio Privia PX-350

My wife is selling her upright piano ( someone is picking it up Saturday ).  Her main instrument is sax & woodwinds but she teaches piano. I recommended the Casio PX-350 with the three pedal option, mainly from user reviews. I like my Kurzweil PC3x as a controller but I don't want her students bashing on it!  I'm sure I will test out the Casio on Pianoteq as soon as I get a chance.  I have seen a couple mentions of rattling & problematic keys with the 350. I noticed there are a few 350 users on the Pianoteq forum.  Has anyone experienced any troubles I should be aware of?  I would personally love a Kawai VPC or MP11 but that's not possible right now.      -Perry-

Thanks, Luc.  That's good to hear.

Re: Casio Privia PX-350

I'm pretty happy with the PX-350. The PX-150 has just as good of a key bed, and it's a lot cheaper. No rattling.

Thanks Beakybird.  She wants a couple of the features of the 350 and we found a pretty good deal on line. They have dropped a tiny bit since the 5-S came out.

Re: Casio Privia PX-350

I have a PX-3, which has pretty much the same keyboard from a mechanical point of view. The action is maybe a touch too light, but it's alright (certainly for the weight of the instrument, which is just about 12kg if I recall correctly). It works fine, it is not too loud and I have never had any problems with rattling or other noises. The sound engine of the PX-3 is lousy, and the PX-350's is still not world-class I guess, but since we are talking about using it with Pianoteq... ;-)

Did you check if you really need the PX-350 then? The 150 has the exact same keyboard action, and it's internal drawbacks are pretty much irrelevenant if you are just looking for a controller. :-)
