Topic: Effects suggestions: Add phaser, adjust reverb position in chain

Given that Pianoteq has effects (I wouldn't have complained if it didn't ;^), I suggest adding a phaser, and also allowing the reverb position in the chain to be modified. For example, having a phaser AFTER the reverb produces a really cool effect something like the one in "Knowing Me, Knowing You", by ABBA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUrzicaiRLU   Listen 10 seconds in. (sounds like a Wurly or Rhodes hidden down there somewhere)

Why not???

About the Abba clip, interesting how people still looked like human beings in a 70's vídeo clip.

Maybe to try to recreate some typical effects of the 70's could make some instruments more in teresting.
Some new presets with typical effcts from disco era.

That might be asking a bit too much from Modartt. Besides, if you are interested in effects like those in the ABBA song, then why stop there? Get yourself a DAW and set up all kinds of different effects (reverb, phasers, chorus, delays, distortion, etc) in any order you please. I use Sonar X2 Professional for various things but you can get Sonar Essential for US $99. Free plugins are available for download from various places for all of the above effects and more. I could point you to them if you are not familiar or don't know where to find them.

Oh...I do realize that you may be fully aware of all this already!

If so, they won't do it.   In any case, I don't think it's asking very much though. Pianoteq already has quite a few effects, and IMHO a phaser is a very basic, common effect that is often used with electric pianos.  Also, every effect other than reverb can already have it's order in the chain switched around, so I don't know why it would be so hard to allow that for the reverb as well.

Yep - I already know about DAWs. If Pianoteq didn't already have integrated effects, I wouldn't have made this request, and I wouldn't even have requested ANY effects. However, given that Modarrt obviously DO see a reason to give Pianoteq effects, I'm just giving them another idea to improve the product.

Using a reverb before a Phaser in the signal chain is kind of a non-standard, artistic way of audio processing and it's something I would prefer doing in a DAW anyways rather then a software instrument to be honest

Re: Effects suggestions: Add phaser, adjust reverb position in chain

I like the original idea (and thanks for the Abba clip, indeed, these are humans^^ [hide myself behind some shelter, at least in Germany in some scenes^^]).
A suggestion that would, if possible, fulfill all of your standard and non-standard dreams. The guitar software RevalverMKII back in the day had a vst loading plugin. If pianoteq 5 or 6 ever had something like this, you could load before or after the reverb WHATever you'd wanted...

And it would release the developers from coding own phasers and so on, as so much, good freeware too, is already available. If possible, it wouldn't harm all who prefer doing it in their daws, but still making it possible with standalone.

I say +1 to add a Modartt-flavoured phaser, but -1 to move reverb around. It would make the current GUI layout of effects page nonsensical, to say the least.

Hard work and guts!

That's right. And it would not even be necessary to move the reverb around.
