Topic: Error - "Could not create the user presets folder..."

Mac OS X 10.8.2

I'm using a SSD for my boot/apps drive and a different volume for my Home directory. In PianoTeq I've set the default folder for my presets to my hHome folder on the other volume where it's supposed to be. However, when I launch PianoTeq standalone, I still get the error message that it can't "create" my presets folder. Same happens for the AU version.

At first I thought it couldn't locate the presets folder. So..

I've reset in PianoTeq.

I've re-pointed in PianoTeq

I repaired permissions.

I manually fixed permissions on my home folder (and directories contained inside), and did the same for another home folder that is on the boot SSD, and tried putting and pointing the presets there, but still no luck.

I've tried everything I can think of except a UNIX cmnd (which I don't know what that would be).

Not sure why it's trying to "create" a folder, when it's already there. Maybe I should delete the Presets folder and let it try again, but I don't see that working. I'll try anyway. It's obviously a permissions problem, but the regular fixes don't fix it.

Any ideas?

I'm Mac savvy, so let me know if it's a PianoTeq issue, or what the fix is.

Thanks!

Hi nightwatch . .  I am running an older MAC OS X 10.5.8.  More savvy with mechanical shop things than computer software . . but will mention something that may or may not be a part of your concerns.  Click the Options button in the main PTQ GUI.  Then click the General button.  Down at the bottom in the Folders window there will be the underlined word:  "presets"  in blue.  IF YOU HAVE made presets in the past,  they will show up in the new pop up window with .fxp as extensions.  Select . . drag and drop one of your choice onto the surface of the PTQ GUI.  BUT . . BUT . . it wont be in the presets list in your main PTQ the next time you open PTQ.  Just hold your cursor over the "save floppy"  icon a second and then click the save button.  Until figured out this last step I was chasing my old presets all over the place!.
. . sorry for the lack of highbrow computer-eze but maybe this may help. . . .

Hey Lanny - Thanks for the tip. I tried that, and it would load the preset, but when I tried to save it I got the same error message. PianoTeq is having trouble "creating" the Presets folder and won't even give me an option to choose one when I "Save as...".

I'll upload the error graphic in a few.

Thanks..

solved!

My problem was solved, I´ve reinstalled my OS so my path was incorrect, when I pressed reset (in options/general/folders) the searchpath was renewded, and pooof, now it´s working again.
