Topic: I need a rockin' rock piano!

Hi,
I've got the rock collection, but so far haven't been satisfied with what I'm coming up with and of the YC5 patches, nor have I found an FXP that describes what I'm searching for. Does anyone know of an FXP that will give me a bright rock piano where the bass has a bright attack sans midrange, can suggest what I can experiment with to get what I'm looking for?
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark
Can you give an example of the kind of sound that you are looking for?
Maybe a youtube link or a track name that we can look up on Spotify?

Here's a Youtube video with a semblance of what I'm looking for:

That's a great clip. Thanks for posting. I would like to be able to get that sound, too. On the other hand, the only way to try to replicate the sound would be to listen to each note on that piano separately. And he's not got going to slow down to let us do that.

Is it a real piano? He plays a Clavinova with a lot of reverb on his other videos, but in the one you posted, there are no buttons. But we seem to be able to see behind the piano or keyboard.

Re: I need a rockin' rock piano!

Unless he retuned the piano half tone down it is a DP. He plays C and I hear B
Nice sound and performance anyway

Re: I need a rockin' rock piano!

Mark, I'm trying to see how far I can get with revoicing the D4 to try and reach this....
as soon as I have something worth trying out, I'll upload an fxp

Re: I need a rockin' rock piano!

Just a suggestion, what about the "D4 Hyper Bright" modified by loading the "Rock" EQ mini-preset? Maybe as starting point?

Re: I need a rockin' rock piano!

didn't think of that... will give it a try, Philippe!!

I thought I'd give it a go. Very harsh sound, maybe not that user friendly.
Based on YC5 Studio Amp.

That's a great singing blues Don! Can you post the midi file?

Sounds like an upright.

Hi Philippe,
Midi file 'Blues at Night' as requested.

Re: I need a rockin' rock piano!

Thank you Don

Re: I need a rockin' rock piano!

The suggestion of Philippe was really an eye-opener. I've made some recordings of a jam-session (piano only parts) based on the bright D4+rock.eq setting and uploaded it to the website of the band imprazz (under construction). Although not perfect (several mistakes during playing in keys and composition) it shows the real power of Pianoteq...some of the people who listened to the recordings really couldn't believe it was not a real piano....such a beautiful product

The recordings are available through the following url:

http://www.imprazz.com/experimental/

These are really big files (to big for the "Other files" corner). As already said: these files are just for showing the power of Pianoteq and how beautiful keys (can) blend together in a harmonious way. But most important: it so much fun playing.

Perhaps here instead:  http://www.imprazz.com/experimental/

Re: I need a rockin' rock piano!

Yes sorry about that. I just changed the URL by replacing the dutch word "experimenteel" to the English equivalent "experimental" and didn't update the post. I changed it in the post, thanx

Re: I need a rockin' rock piano!

Ah, I was a bit puzzled by reading feeble's post this afternoon as I did download the files this morning without problem
