Topic: OT: Streaming the nice piano videos to the nice television
This is unrelated to PianoTeq specifically but is related to the many videos of piano playing on YouTube, etc.
I recently bought the Logitech Revue (see note at bottom), one of the GoogleTV devices that hooks up to one's dsl service and lets the user access the internet and a few specialized sites from a television. (Can be done just by running an hdmi cable from a computer to a recent tv, but the Revue comes with a nice wireless keyboard and has access to some nice sites formatted for tv viewing.)
I only want to report that while the video quality is of course dependent on the original video quality, and thus may suffer on a large screen, the audio is actually quite nice. Depends on the sound system one has attached to the tv, but overall, it's a very pleasant experience. Well worth the time running the hdmi cable to the tv.
Those videos of Valentina Igoshina playing Chopin for a film, for example, come across very well, although the video quality is less than wonderful unless viewed from a few feet away.
So the point of this post is just that we can watch music videos on tv and it sounds good? Well, yes. But it sounds very good and on a large screen, watching these piano videos is wonderful. Piano porn, we now seem to have.
Note: The Logitech Revue is one of several internet to television\GoogleTV devices, and is being discontinued, although an update to Android Honeycomb is promised, according to recent news articles. The general principle of nice piano videos looking nicer on a big screen with a good sound system is more to my point.
