Topic: sustain and half-sustain pedal stops working in Dorico after repeats
I have a work that involves a half-sustained pedal held throughout the work, and there are multiple repeated measures at the beginning. Oddly, the half-sustained pedal goes up in the middle of a repeated measure (eg, after the eighth repeat of a measure to be repeated 10x). Same if I have a fully sustained pedal invoked. Doesn't change if I delete all automation. My fix was to add hidden half-sustain pedal marks before the measures that are affected, but it seems to be a Pianoteq 9 issue, since if I use Noteperformer's (inferior) piano, which only supports a fully sustained pedal, that doesn't happen. Again, it happens in Pianoteq even if I have a fully sustained pedal as a marking.
To replicate:
Create a work in Dorico where each measure gets repeated several times (I compose minimalist music, which is why this comes up)
Have a sustain or half-sustain pedal marking at the beginning and continue it throughout (so it's depressed half-depressed the entire time)
Play it back: in my case, the half-pedal disappears after the 8th iteration of measure 10, and a fully sustained pedal happens in the middle of a repeat of measure 6.
Dorico support has no idea what is going on since they don't have Pianoteq.
Just wanted to report this; it's very odd, but admittedly a specific use case.
