Franz Schubert (1797 - 1828) is regarded as one of the most important composers of the Romantic period. Schubert lived and worked in Vienna (Austria) and composed secular and sacred choral music, symphonies, overtures, stage works, piano music and chamber music. Schubert’s significance as a composer was only recognised later, following his early death. Many Romantic composers discovered his works and held Schubert’s skill in high esteem.
Ländler No. 1 in A major from the ‘17 Ländler, D 366’ is a delightful short piano piece. The mood of this composition is characterised by Alpine folk music. The work features a song-like, catchy melody and a cheerful, rural character.
