Topic: Newbie trying to make a recording ?

Hi, I’m totally new to trying something like this but here goes.
I’ve got Pianoteq 9.0.2 and have connected my digital piano and have recorded successfully.
However , I have this software called Playground Session which I also use . This software shows music score and supplies backing tracks .
When I tried to record myself playing piano within the playground app , Pianoteq recorded my piano but not the backing track.
I can understand that pianoteq is not (seeing) the playground signal so I’m wondering if there is a work around .
Thanks in advance for any information/ help .
PS
I’m using iMac Tahoe 26.2

Hello Pete and welcome to this forum

"When I tried to record myself playing piano within the playground app , Pianoteq recorded my piano but not the backing trac"

I don't know this software but I looked at YouTube and saw that there is backingtrack to Amazing grace. So I think I understand the software.

I have some backing tracks  to music and want to use them with Pianoteq. Here is how I use them with pianoteq. (have Mac mini 2024 M4 chip).

I have the backing on desktop and drag it to my DAW, Garageband.  tr 1.  Then I record my playing on tr 2 listening at the same time to the backing tr. Then export the piece to my desktop as a mp.3 file.  Done!

I suppose if you can record the backing track first and save it to desktop, and then drag it into mac's daw you have no problems.
It might work for you or not.

I hope for the best. Good Luck Pete
And I hope you can upload some music later to the "other side" - Recordings featuring Pianoteq and Orgamteq

Best wishes,

Stig

Edit.   If you have not used garageband before you have to search for Pianoteq.    Choose plugins. (or something like that) bottom of the page, press. select and choose Pianoteq.

Hi Stig, I’ve just downloaded GarageBand and will give it a try . Hoping I can do this and eventually post some playing on here
