In my last preset, "L7 Natural" my value is 91. Can you please review it and let me know which parameters can be improved?"

Of course. I'll check it out tomorrow afternoon.
Actually, I have been trying to perfect various presets. I want to hear perfect evenness. Technicians do their best to make pianos as even as possible. Even when they introduce variations such as unison width etc., they still endeavour to introduce the same variations for each note. I used to be a piano technician so I'm extra fussy about such things.
I wonder whether Modartt would be happy to introduce a 'Perfect' preset for each piano - one that is perfectly regulated and perfectly tuned?! That would be so helpful. I'd really like and I'm sure others would to. It would mean that I could sit and play without the need to tweak. I know that there's a condition slider that ages the pianos, but even at '0', I can hear lots of idiosyncrasies. Modartt, may we have a 'Perfect' preset for each model? Please?
Warmest regards, Lemuel,
Chris

Hi Lemuel,
Brilliant work! Where do I start!?
I downloaded your .fxp file this afternoon. I played through headphones and it sounded amazing! I later played it through speakers but it sounded muddy. I thought it must be my speakers so I put some foam bass port plugs in. This improved it a fraction but I thought to myself, the sound needs more air.
I then went to change the reverb and, low and behold, discovered that you'd used a third party reverb and read the message 'file not found'! So there has been no reverb which he was why it sounded dry, boxy and bassy through the speakers. But the experience of playing through headphones, even reverb-less, was very, very good.
I then added Pianoteq's 'medium hall' reverb and it sounds airy now, although. It's not the reverb you worked with. May I ask what reverb you used?
I will do some more playing later this evening with various Pianoteq reverbs, but I'd really like to hear it with your original reverb. Meanwhile, I'll listen to your .fxp Corner demo through my IEMs.
I look forward to hearing from you. I'll let you know how it sounds with PTQ reverbs after I've played tonight.
Warmest regards,
Chris

Thank you in advance ! I wanted to share the effect chain I've been using in my recent work (Dec 21, 2025), in case it helps anyone:
My Effect Chain: Pianoteq → Valhalla Delay → Pro-Q 4 → Magic 7 (free plugin) with the "Studio Room" preset (Studio 1) → Pro-Q 4 → Bus PEAK with "Safe True Peaks" and 0.0 ms Release
Reverb Options: If you prefer not to use an external VST for reverb, I've found it very helpful to use Bricasti M7 reverb through WAV impulse response import directly in Pianoteq. You can actually get these IRs for free, they're comparable in quality to the LiquidSonics ones (which became free in January 2025). These were released in October 2023 by Samplicity:
https://samplicity.com/bricasti-m7-impu...nse-files/
Alternatively, there's the free VST version called "Magic7" by Wave Alchemy (released November 2024):
https://www.wavealchemy.co.uk/product/magic7/
Note on IRs: If your IR importer doesn't support True Stereo, you'll need to hard-pan 100% Left and Right, which will give you a single file (48 kHz, 32-bit FP, etc.) that you can then import into Pianoteq.
My Favourite Reverb Presets (in order of preference): Scoring Stage → Sunset Chamber → Studio B Far → Studio A
EQ Target: For IEMs, I use planar single-driver model with a "Diffuse-Field" or "JM-1" target measured on B&K 5128, with −4 dB treble and −1 dB ear gain.
This its a new demo of my recent research (Dec 21, 2025): https://forum.modartt.com/uploads.php?f...202025.mp3
A few of my new settings:
Mics & Mix: 4 "Perfect" Omni mics with D (Hamburg) "Player" positions
Valhalla Delay: Early reflections configured to simulate a natural 25' × 30' room, applied before reverb.
Important note: EQ matching using 24 points in Pro-Q 4, based on an original cover by Caliko performed on a Steinway
