Topic: Using MP-11SE native SK or PTQ implementation?

Hi all, which way to get the best Shigeru sound? And furthermore: Owning a MP11 (noSE) and PTQ9 with all major pianos - would MP11 SE be an improvement?

Thanks

In my opinion, no.

Where do I find a list of all posts I upvoted? :(

I have the Novus NV10s, which I believe uses the same sounds; Pianoteq is better

Re: Using MP-11SE native SK or PTQ implementation?

Definitely not. I have an MP7SE, with the same sounds as the MP11SE, and any Pianoteq model is by far superior. It's just that the keyboards bring kawai "sounds" (that is: samples) while Pianoteq has the kawai "sound" (and many others in addition)

Well, the SK is new to the MP11SE, so that would be an upgrade to the MP11 but I really don´t think it would be worth the (rather substantial) cost just for the new sample library. Besides that, asking that question here is asking for the same kind of answers, as we are all more or less happily biased towards PTQ   ....

Regarding PTQ SK-EX vs the MP11SE, it boils down to the (IMHO) usual qualities and pitfalls  PTQ tends to have ...
the samples in the MP11SE make the (already heavy keyboard) feel even heavier and, compared to PTQ, it sounds quite muffled and low passed, as if it was captured from outside a curtain.
PTQ, on the other hand, feels livelier, much more dynamic, crisp and can sound like your ear is sitting really close to the strings. Ouch.
Besides there is a lot of tweaking potential to further tailor the sound - but it does lack some warmth and woodiness that the sampled one has in spades. I prefer the PTQ Kawai, but yymv.

there you go, another kind of circular post.
