Topic: How to get that sound with pianoteq?

Hi,
I have been using pianoteq since quite some years - I like it, my main limitations being my playing skills. I have been watching Phil Best's videos on Youtube since quite some time, and I both like his improvisation style, but also how he makes Pianoteq sound. Now I am fully aware that he has a much better developped touch to the keys that I will ever have, however after all he is using the same presets that I have here, and his music comes out of the same loudspeakers as my own playing.

Thus I suspect he is using some good outboard (or software) processing to make his sound so thick, rich and "expensive" - in one of his videos (can't find it now) he said he doesn't do much editing to the Moddart presets, he "just" adds some compression to get a bit of that "production sound". This immediately triggered my curiosity, so does anybody know what he actually does to make Pianotec sound so good? In some of his videos one can see sound processors standing around, so I think they are part of his sound, I suspect amp + compressor.

Maybe someone knows more than i do. Here are 2 of his videos where I like the piano sound quite a bit (and obviously his playing, I like his style a lot). And just BTW, the sound of his voice is definately compressed and processed quite a bit.

Hi,

I know this video is old and perhaps you may have seen it before, but just in case, this is one where he describes what he uses for a classical recording. The information is even in the description alone.
