Just a passing thought: Would it be good to divide the forum into sections, such as:
Equipment: Soundcards, headphones, and keyboards
Tips and techniques
Instrument and preset discussions
This comes from noticing that similar questions about the best keyboard, the best soundcard, etc often appear. Because the posts aren't divided up, new users don't see older questions and answers...

Although it would be best if there remained an overall "combined" view of all new posts, like we have now, even if each post and thread actually belonged in a specific section.
I know that looking at the Forum Index page shows the last post in each section, but it only shows THE last post, not all new posts since e.g. your last login.
Hope this is clear. I do think sections would make sense considering the traffic on this forum nowadays!
