Topic: Swedish organ music ”Festmusik” Festive music or……..

Festmusik för orgel
Composed by Swedish Stig Gustav Schönberg

I hope you have time to read all this, before listening:

It is majestic  -  beautiful, powerful, causing great admiration and respect: first time i heard it it left me  breathless….

….although it left me  breathless first time I heard it live in a church in Närpes, Finland, year 1971, I Remember it forever and thought I can never in my life play that piece….well here it is, not as it should be played by an remarkable good  organist. But played by an amateur, Organteqenthusiast, as Gaston once said.

The sound is a mix of Orgtq 1, Ortq 2 (including preset Clockwork organ), French horn, Trumpet.

I am still struggling with this piece. My fingers are too short, but Ludwig van Beethoven said: ”To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable”. Well, I play with passion, I do my best, and someone said that every struggle is a victory - the greater the struggle, the more glorious the triumph.

But, I don’t feel any triumph. There are sections I can’t get exact right, I’m just glad I came through it …
The hardest music I’ve ever tried to play - notice: tried!  I have to leave it as a try…..Bach’s Toccata was easier
Is this Party music or Festive music or modernism or expressionism - well, much of rhythmic vitality, a mix of tonal chords with a good deal of dissonance….

Wow, this is really powerful music... I generally don't like Schomberg because his music is really out of my comfort zone... But let's be honest I really liked your recording...
This recording is really beautiful, thanks for sharing it.

It’s great.
I may have relived your experience in 1971.
Since your performance was released, I have listened to it many times. I searched for works by the composer and kept coming back to your performance.
I couldn’t find  other recording of this piece except one (DUX 0219, played by Roman Perucki). This is why I find your performance exceptionally valuable. If you ever record it again in the future, I would love to hear it.

Thank you carmelo for listening and giving comment. I'm glad.  I hope you don't think on  Arnold Schoenberg, He is a completely different composer.

Best wishes,

Stig

Thank you very much triton. Among the best comments one can get are probably when someone says he have listened to a recording many times. Thank you for your kindness.
I’m glad. It made my day.

Best wishes,
