Topic: iPad dual input through Lightning port

I have an older iPad mini which I've loaded Pianoteq 8 for a test. It runs well, doesn't lag and is playable. I like it better than the Windows 11 laptop setup I started with mostly because it is a much smaller setup and doesn't take up all the space on my music rack. I'm currently running an Apple USB A -> Lightning adapter for MIDI in that works fine.

Only problem is charging... I have to switch out the usb->lightning cable to the charge cable. while it's charging, I can't run my MIDI into the iPad.

I see Apple makes this dual input USB/Lightning to Lightning adapter: https://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/M...ra-adapter

Before I spend $ 50.00(!) on this, has anybody done this and can you run MIDI into Pianoteq while charging the unit at the same time?  Latency issues?

I use a cheap no brand version. Works as expected. Charging and midi.

Thanks, just ordered an Amazon one for less than half price of the Apple one.

Another option might be wireless charging, Check if your iPad mini supports that.

Thanks for the tip, but my Ipad is too old and doesn't have wireless charging. However my Amazon dual USB/Lightning charger dongle arrived this AM and like @Mr Roland wrote: works as expected. I was concerned that it would mess up the USB signal and add latency, but it is not an issue at all.
