Thank you everyone who participated and voted in the 2024 Modartt Video Contest! It has been great fun!

The winning entries:

1.   Pianoteq video contest entry 2024
      by hoflint / Bálint Hofgard
      400 € value coupon

"Hi everyone, I was preparing for a movie theme concert when I came across this contest and thought I could post something here. I almost exclusively use Pianoteq for that and find it such a playable and nuanced instrument. With a good controller you have absolute command over the quietest pianissimos and the richest fortissimos, it just blows my mind. So here is my take, it is still a work in progress, I hope you can forgive my occasional clumsiness."

3.   Piano Piece
      by Marc Boulé
      200 € value coupon

"Another hybridization project between VCV Rack and Pianoteq, mixing ostinatos and delays over a subtle canvas of shimmer reverb and choir. This is a piece I recorded while developing the NoteEcho module, which is coded in C++ for the VCV Rack platform. The motivation behind the module (and the piece itself), was that the usual delay effect is typically audio-based, and I wanted a modular delay effect that would instead delay the actual midi notes that go to Pianoteq, which then allows separate modulations to be applied to the notes (namely: pitch offset, velocity and probability). A Valhalla ping-pong audio delay is also used for an added torrent of notes! Using the condition slider and the celeste pedal on the U4 really helped to get the vibe needed for the piece. As a side note, in the initial midi recording of the piece I was not using the sustain pedal (virtual brick on the pedal), and after watching the polyphony go above 150 or so during editing, I went back and automated the sustain for the final rendering :-)"

Well said Stig, and thanks for all the energy and positive spirit you bring to this contest and the forum, your passion for these inspiring instruments is hard to match (!); and in this season of gratefulness, we can indeed send some thanks to the folks who bring them into our musical lives. Cheers to the gang at Modartt and all who participated in the contest!

Re: Modartt video contest 2024 - the winning entries

WOW guys I have to say this surprised me a lot even though I am eternally grateful!

This was a last minute entry and a last minute recording for me just getting here on time and after posting I went through most of the other applications.
I found many of you folks to be extremely creative coming up with such cool ideas. With others I felt a very strong musical intent which warmed my heart because I find that is the whole point of creating any form of art. I even felt a little embarrassed not coming up with something original myself yet you trusted me with your votes.

This support came the best time making it possible for me to further enhance this project of mine without the disabled notes from time to time..:)

So congrats to you all and thank you again! I will make sure to give back to this community somehow in the future!

Definitely the Bosendorfer, and probably the Shigeru Kawai. The Bosendorfer in particular is incredible, and each of those instrument packs have a nice bass-split preset, which is very cool, as we get a sort of "bonus" instrument in a sense, a lightly plucked upright bass in this case :-).

I also like the "SK-EX with Strings Pad" preset, that's right up my alley. I had an eye on getting the Pro version of Pianoteq, but getting more instruments would be fun too I think.

I will definitely be upgrading to Pianoteq Stage and add the Upright and Hohner collection and some other grands, the Bösendorfer and the new Kawai got my attention, but also the tonality of the Blüthner and Petrof.
The historical pianos seem very fun too and you can get creative with other types of instruments like Harps, Celeste and Steelpans, I wanted to incorporate these into this entry but it was long enough already.
So I am not entirely sure but it is so good to feel like a little child again making a choice being the largest problem:)
