My humble bet:
Unless the Bosendorfer's and kawai's quality level was connected to improved/new analyses and studies of the respectives real grand pianos, that was not among the standart used in the Steinway-D, it will probably be upgraded to similar quality levels.
Some people are waiting for even further improvements in sound tone, even for Bosendorfer and Kawai, to happen in version 9.
I really hope so!
Any refined techniques inevitably will improve the collection - resistance is futile.. oh hang on that's something else..
Every major version gets a sonic upgrade across all or most instrument models, regardless of the inevitable new features/bells and whistles. The D pack is an unofficial flagship. Steinway is king. Improvements are inevitable
I guess we will see user interface improvements in the full screen interface too, rather than just a bigger stretched version.
Probably full support for high resolution controllers with midi 2.0. perhaps programmable feature support for polyphonic aftertouch and MPE?
Even prettier 3D rendered models of all the instruments.
More sophisticated 3D view of the microphone positioning. Perhaps linked with the latter!
Perhaps more sophisticated string pad presets for all instruments.
More ways to alter and adjust the prepared piano sounds.
I'm guessing a whole raft of improvements in the reverb section. More sophisticated collection of impulse responses perhaps?

Today technology is developing and new discoveries are being made. There’s always going to be a new need of some sort. There’s always going to be an improvement or something that will lead to something new that sometimes we didn’t even imagine. Modartt know all this.

Yes!
Pianoteq's physical model has been developed for 18 years and it continues for sure. There is always going to be members with a new need of some sort. There will always be something new to learn and explore and hear and discover.
This is something that Modartt needs and is happy to receive as feedback. This is a support we can give. Members have a new need of something, ......an improvment…..
At Modartt they are always working. What a wonderful company, what a wonderful forum.
Of course we get further improvements in sound tone - but Modartt lead the way in doing it.
All the best, everyone

That is actually quite comforting to hear. Fingers crossed v9 is coming soon!
Hi Stig
Sure Modartt always refine and improve. I was just wondering if the refining in V9 would be about bring the older instruments to the level of Bosendorfer and Kawai Shigeru, since both represents latest improvements, plus some interface changes, or would extend beyond that.
If V9 take some extra months to arrive, it probably will have sonic improvements even for Kawai and Bosendorfer.
I think a multi track MIDI recorder would be very nice.
"Je suppose qu'il y aura toute une série d'améliorations dans la section de réverbération."
oui, un bloc reverb indépendant de la section "effects" avec des possibilités différentes de l'insertion du signal serait le bienvenue
