Topic: Save a custom velocity curve?

So I'm wondering if there's a way to save a custom velocity curve I've set up, and have it show up in the preset list when I right-click on the velocity map. As it is, when I right-click on the velocity area, I get a list of presets like "Slow Keyboard," "Moderately Slow Keyboard," etc. I'm just wanting my own custom velocity curve to show up in that list.

The only way around this that I've figured is to "copy" the curve and then "paste" it onto another patch. It would sure be nice to just be able to pick my custom velocity curve out of the list.

Thanks in advance for the help!

(I'm in the non-Pro version of Pianoteq, btw.)

Re: Save a custom velocity curve?

It's a long-time feature request

I hope that option will be in Pianoteq soon - also presets for EQ and Mic placement would be very awesome to have.

Hard work and guts!

Hi Mark
I´ve allso had this wish and suggested it for a long time ago.
That count's at least three users now :-)

You can freeze the EQ and use the same settings on all presets but this is not the best solution i think.

A big wote here for saveable EQ presets.

Re: Save a custom velocity curve?

I seem to remember there being a way to at least set a default velocity curve (perhaps in V2?) , but I can't find that any more.

Greg.

Re: Save a custom velocity curve?

1+ for Velocity curve presets, and the others.

For now, if you usually, but not always, want to load the same velocity curve, you could use Freeze:

1. Set the velocity curve.
2. Click on the Freeze checkbox and click on Velocity curves.
3. Close the Freeze dialog box. (I don't think you want to choose Set as default)

This way, you can just right-click on the Freeze box to uncheck it, so when you then load another instrument or preset, its default velocity curve comes into play. So this way, you can create one Vel preset. (But remember the unfreeze thing.)

If you instead always wanted to load the same curve, you could also set it, make the change in Freeze, and then click on "Set as default." Either way, right-clicking on the Freeze check-box means that the next thing you open will have its original curve.

Re: Save a custom velocity curve?

OK, so first off, bummer on the "unsavabiity" (to invent a word) of velocity curves to be included in the drop down of velocity presets. Bummer indeed.

Add my vote to the folks who are requesting this feature be added. Please. :-)

Secondly, thanks to Jake for the "Freeze" trick. I don't know why I hadn't even thought of that. It's a much better workaround than I was using. Thanks for that, Jake. In the interim, it will definitely work.

However, I really do hope this will be included soon in an update. Doesn't seem like it would too hard to implement. I could definitely envision myself having 3 or 4 personalized velocity presets, based upon what kind of music I'm playing.

Thanks so much to everyone for the help!

Re: Save a custom velocity curve?

Also, it's been brought to my attention that Ivory will apparently allow you to set what the min/max velocities are for your particular keyboard, and then the program will scale its various velocity curves automatically to match your instrument. I haven't really played around with Ivory enough to know if that's true, or if I'm understanding what I've been told on that.

Anyways, interesting stuff. I hope the Pianoteq team are thinking in these directions.
