Topic: Kawai CA 701 with pianoteq

I'm using Pianoteq on my Ipad and would like to get the sound through the speakers of the Kawai CA 701. I know most people will prefer separate monitors, but I just would like to use the original speakers. Because the CA 701 doesn't have usb audio I will have to use an additional audio cable for audio in. My question is how can I switch off the piano sound of the Kawai and only use the sound from Pianoteq. I used to have a Roland FP30X and I could switch of the Roland sound generator. But how to do this with the Kawai?

I have just found the answer: switch off local control in the midi settings. I will leave this question for other users with the same question.

Re: Kawai CA 701 with pianoteq

from the ca701 user manual:
"This port is used to connect the instrument to a
computer using a USB “B to A” type cable in order
to send and receive MIDI data."

In other words it facilitates the transmission of midi data, but not audio.

Re: Kawai CA 701 with pianoteq

Hi Fetivi,

"Local Control setting (MIDI Menu) allows the keyboard action to be "disconnected" from the internal sound engine, effectively muting the sound."

that allows me to hear Pianoteq only when I have the sound coming in from Line In.

here's the thread with my question that was answered by Kawai James:

Is there any latency between Pianoteq on the iPad,  and the 701?  I'm able to pipe Pianoteq into the speakers of a Yamaha DGX-670 through the MIDI cable coming from Linux based computer, without any audible latency.  The two instruments playing in tandem sound fatter.  Pianoteq is the best of the two if played independently.

Latency is adjustable in Pianoteq on the iPad depending on the audio buffer size. I switched local control off on the CA 701 and can use the iPad for Pianoteq. But it doesn't work very good with the line in from the iPad to the CA 701, because of additional noise. I used a smof groundloop noise isolator and this takes away the noise but when playing a note you still hear some tiny irritating background noise. So I decided to skip the line in option. It just does't work together with de usb midi out cable on the same device (iPad). When using pianoteq I put my headphone directly in the iPad and that works fine. Latency is ok. I use 2,9 or 5,8 ms.
Fortunately I like the samples of the CA 701 so that's what I use most at this moment.
