Topic: Original piano suite - Sarabande and Toccata

These pieces are sketches of two springtime mindscapes: melancholy and joy.

2. Toccata

The second piece was initially composed as a practice piece 'Etude', but its title was changed to 'Toccata' to match the classical title of the first piece.

Bravo HAL!

I like these pieces and I love the second one, Toccata, well I love the Sarabande too.

When I try to analyze the music I listen to, I can often see images created in my mind….
The names  goes well with the music.
Saraband, The sarabande was a slow, stately dance with 3 beats in a bar
popular in Baroque music in the 17th and early 18th centuries.

Your slow nice playing here really give me an intense feeling of sadness, but also a romantic melancholy,  a girl friend…. good Saraband.

Toccata,  musical form for keyboard instruments, written in a free style that is characterized by full chords, rapid runs, high harmonies, and other virtuoso elements designed to show off the performer's “touch.
Well, all is here in your music Toccata.

I think of your Toccata as in 4 sections:

1 intro - rapid runs, high harmonies, virtuoso elements showing your performer touch. Great fast section.

2 the long beautiful slow section, enjoyed it much, dreaming…

3 - the fast section again, like running after girl friend and shouting  wait,  wait…

4 - end section, she is waiting and the last beautiful chord is like a hug

Thank you HAL so much for sharing.

Best wishes from Finland,

Stig

Re: Original piano suite - Sarabande and Toccata

Thank you, Stig !

It's very interesting that you associated these pieces with a girlfriend.

This is because the pieces were created when I was younger, and it likely reflects the feelings of love and loss I experienced at the time.

I think you've read into it quite keenly.

Best regards

HAL
