Topic: Feature request: Velocity balance

Hi friends!

It seems to be a lot of feature requests going on now so I thought I might add one too. I posted this in another thread first but just for sake of good order it might be better off with a thread by its own.

One thing that would be a great addition to Pianoteq is some kind of "Velocity balance" slider where you can balance the velocity respons between registers. On many controllers including mine you need to apply more force in the bass than in the treble to reach a certain velocity value. How much it differs is dependent quite a bit on controller model and it is also extra pronounced in pianos with an acoustic action such as hybrid and silent instruments. It would be great with a slider where you could dial in an satisfactory balanced respons, maybe it could be a feature at least for the Pro version within the note edit menu. A general "slider" together with the possibilities of note-per-note edit of the velocity response would add great value to Pianoteq I think.

Re: Feature request: Velocity balance

Rather than adding a new control, I would propose adding some basic transformation tools to facilitate manipulating the Velocity Curve already implemented. For your purposes, being able to choose a point and "rotate" the whole curve or "bend" the upper and lower segments around that point would probably serve the purpose. Add the capability to "lasso" and drag multiple points up/down/left/right (with a modifier key to constrain the axis as needed), and I think the most common use cases would be accommodated

+1 for sure.

Yes, that sounds like a great implementation. Adding more advanced functions to the existing velocity editor is probably the best way. An improved and intuitive way to dial in and fine tune the velocity response for any keyboard would be invaluable.

Re: Feature request: Velocity balance

I once imagine an option to change the weight/mass of the hammers.

We have hammer hardmess, sttike point, velocity, volume per key.
I wonder how the changing of mass of the hammer would affect the sound.
Probably would be similar to the velocity affects, but I feel if would give something more.

Absolutely. This would be wonderful.

Warmest regards,
