Topic: Assign two pedal switches to Combination Previous/Next

Bonjour,

I'm trying to assign two pedal switches to Previous / Next combination with Midi Learn.
It works, but the command acts twice, once when the pedal is depressed and once when it is released.
Result: you go directly from 1 to 3 or 3 to 1.
How can I solve this problem?

Merci !

Hi,

I have tried to do the same thing with the left and right pedal of my digital piano. The result is the same with an increment of 3 or more. If I assign the tho left keys of the piano, which are nor used for Organteq, I get right an increment of 1. Have you tried to monitor the Midi signal with a tool like MidiView. In my case, I see that the pedal of my piano send several data when a simple key of my piano send only note on / note off.

Good luck to solve your problem

Merci Bidouille ! I'll try this MidiView suggestion.
Otherwise I'll try to tinker with something using a simple on/off switch.

You should limit the controller's value range.
In the case of the pedal that produces continuous values, it makes sense to only allow the value 127.

Click on the left field in the command list ("Controller xx"), then a menu will open.
Select "Restrict the value range ..." and "value = 127".

I've tried every possible type of pedal, switch (open or closed at rest) or continuous, same problem.

Maybe I'd rather use a latch-type foot switch like on some standing lamps.

Have you tried this setting?
Which controller number you have to set depends on your pedal. In the picture it is the sustain pedal (CC64) of my piano.

I would be surprised if it doesn't work with your pedals too.

Yes, I've tried this setting (with the sustain pedal of my SL88 Grand keyboard, CC64).
That's worse. Increment of 4 ore more, seems random ...

I've just tried to simulate 2 latch-type switches, one fo increment and one for decrement, works perfectly.
All I have to do now is buy two latch buttons (a few euros) and fix them somewhere near by the pedal board.

Hi,

if you are able to do some electronic work, you could buy this board :

https://www.midi-hardware.com/?section=...ct=PEDSCAN

with this, you can have 32 contacts to drive any command of Organteq. I have used this board to make an easy way to change the stops of Organteq, call the tutti and drive the Next - Previous stops.

If you are interested on it, I could give you some photos of this work and explanation in french, perhaps easier for you and me.

It's possible that it's over-incrementing because of the length of time that the pedal is depressed.  You could test this by looking at the MIDI I/O and seeing if it registers multiple events the longer you hold the pedal.  If that's the case, I can think of two tricks to help: first, use a keypress or other event than a pedal.  The other, being more expensive, is to buy something like this: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail...er-fcb1010

Pianoteq Pro & Organteq 2

Re: Assign two pedal switches to Combination Previous/Next

Hi,

I have found the explanations that I wrote to describe what I had done to drive the change of combination of stops. It is not difficult to build :

https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code...9pCRemEPGV

It can be used to drive any events of Organteq

Re: Assign two pedal switches to Combination Previous/Next

Merci Bidouille & Tmyoung !

Problem solved with a workaround :
The contact should be maintained when the pedal is released, otherwise the command is sent twice.
That's why I came up with the idea of using latching switches instead of pedals.
So I bought two foot switches of the type used for some floor lamps (€3.50 each).
It's done, and it works!
(Combination number : Left - Decrease / Right - Increase)
