Topic: Greetings! New in town.

Heya! Just bought this a few days ago and I've been absolutely mesmerized by the sound. This has to be the best purchase I've ever made.

A little bit about my setup;

Intel Quad 2,4GHz
On board sound card with ASIO4all
Keyboard: Korg SP-250
Windows7 64bit, Pianoteq 3.5.2

As it is now, I've configured Pianoteq just as a midi player of sorts. I've set up ASIO4all and the Pianoteq mics so I get the sound from Pianoteq in 5.1 surround, and for listening purposes this is very good. Over the last few days I've spent hours just listening to my midi-collection, stunned by how it sounds. I'm no expert, but this is audio-heaven for me.

Now the question;
I've ordered a midi -> usb cable thingy, and after all I've read, this *should* work? If I don't run into any latency issues. Do I need an expensive sound card with MIDI and what-not?

Re: Greetings! New in town.

First, welcome to the group Rokke.  Plenty of opinions, and lots of help, and not too many egos.

I think if twenty of us replied to your question, you would probably get nineteen answers.

If you haven't done it already, it might help to read the recent thread on latency.

There are varying opinions and the results vary too, and often for different reasons.  It's not simple as it seemed at first.

My very personal opinion is that the best response is with a sound card/interface that is either PCI or PCIe.  Yes, I am biased because I use PCI.  But latency is not an issue with me.

There can be problems with Firewire and USB devices, but not always.
