The whole piece would be transposed to Bb as the Treble Recorder is not strictly a transposing instrument. I say 'strictly' as recorder players are expected to read concert pitch notation. However, the same fingering on a Descant and a Treble produce notes that are not of the same pitch! My point being that recorder players learn which notes sound on which instruments regardless of the same fingering patterns - they are a clever bunch of musicians - LOL.
It's a pity that clarinet players do not do the same be they holding a Bb, A or Eb, etc instrument. It would negate us poor accompanist from having to transpose complicated scores at sight. However, it's a given that you have to do this for singers - maybe they have a cold and don't want to push the voice too much, or just like a particular piece and can't get it in their chosen key. It's fun when the pressure is on !
I could imagine this in a Gentle giant's piece (no kidding), like an intro or a break, for example. Just my feel...
I could imagine this in a Gentle giant's piece (no kidding) I didn’t know who this was and had to look them up on good old YouTube), like an intro or a break, for example. Just my feel...
Thank you for the compliment. I can hear what you mean - some of their pieces sound experimental in places.
I’m not taking my minor delving seriously. Just having some fun!
