Topic: Music input from MIDI file

Hi,

I am absolutely new to this kind of virtual instrument software. I am not a pianist but I wrote piano melodies in MIDI files.
Is it possible for PianoTeq to read .mid files and export the reproduced audio in WAV or MP3 format?

Best regards,

Michael

Re: Music input from MIDI file

Hi Michael,

Yes, it is possible to do this with Pianoteq. It is a technique that I use all the time, as my keyboard skills have vanished like the Auk.

On the standalone application, click on 'File' and then on 'Load MIDI File', which will open a pop-up window that allows you to select the MIDI file you wish to play. Your piano melody will now appear in the piano roll window at the top of the application with the name of your melody displayed alongside it.

You can use the controls to the left of the piano roll to play you melody utilising the piano and its settings, once you have loaded in Pianoteq.

To export the piano melody as either an MP3, FLAC or WAV click on 'File' and then on 'Export to audio file'. In the pop-up window select the export file and the compression required, as well as a few other tweaks. Your piano melody will then be exported to the file you want, in the format you like (personally I go for FLAC) and utilising the piano you have loaded in Pianoteq.

It is exported faster than normal playback speed, which is useful for larger pieces of music.

The MIDI playback option is really useful to explore the various setting of Pianoteq in real time, without having to play the keyboard as you fiddle. The are loads of freely available MIDI transcriptions of music on the Web, that you can utilise for your audio experiments.

Have loads of fun,
Michael
