Topic: Stuart & Sons on Pianoteq - Poll

This is a somewhat hypothetical topic, but one which I believe is worth exploring.

If you're not familiar with the Australian piano maker Stuart & Sons, then perhaps take a look at the following demonstration of their current flagship concert grand, the 4-pedal 108-key "Big Beleura":

Your opinion would be very much appreciated!

Re: Stuart & Sons on Pianoteq - Poll

112 key controller required!
K2 and Steinway D models both have extended bass and high key range FWIW. So if you have a spare midi keyboard or two you can get a flavour of the extended range at least. Then you could tweak to get similar tone.

This American guy was totally blown away with the dynamic range of the Stuart and Sons:
https://youtu.be/q4GRsROHI8U

It has yet another pedal that allows you to play incredibly lightly.

I find the extra bass octave interesting. The extra treble OTOH doesn't sound so great in the demos I've heard. . It doesn't sing out with clear notes in the highest octave.

Lumatone should do the job for those extra keys!
Even enough keys (hexagons?) to double up to 24-EDO as well.

Here's a YT video from The Pianoforever.
Most of you have probably seen his videos, but this one is special.

"Mome Raths and Moochers" - I guess that particular video getting mentioned in this thread was an inevitability!

Some guys keep bully even in adulthood.
I could say some don't even loss the evil smell.

Mr Stewart wasn't cancelled because his bussiness isn't huge or famous enough, and because the Piano Forever fellow wasn't famous or wasn't gay, black, trans, feminist woman, poor or refugee.

PS: I'm no saying minoroties don't deserve justice or protection!

He's been cancelled?
Would he know what that even means?

I've never seen that video before. I can understand the young man in the video being upset. Mooching would imply to me something like tyre kicking.

OTOH I can understand an old guy that might not have the patience with was he may perceive as an entitled youngster running a YT channel. Or the fear that he might have disproportionate influence on sales.

It could just be a generational clash. I don't think we can say anything about their characters from this video in reality.

Re: Stuart & Sons on Pianoteq - Poll

Well, I don't agree much with cancelling, as it use to have no trial, no chance of defence and also use to be based on some political use. But if the canceling cultute legionaries want this, at least they should be logic to their psylosophy.

I was somehow canceled by left wingers and right wingers at same time for refuse to take a paper note handled to me by a girl.
I know how people are crazy, bully, even the ones who say to fight against it. Today people developed a sort of bloodthirsty.

Would you be so relativist if Mr Stewart's lettet was directed to your mother or your sister?
Anyway, like I said, everyone deserves right to tell their own side of history.

Dalai Lama is being accused of pedophilia. Politic use is being made by people who consider buddhism left wing socialism.
I don'tknow what he is. For me the scene looked disgusting, but I don't well know about their culture. Russia man kiss other man without sexual meaning. Many american states have tradition of kiss the bride of someone else a good wish gesture. Both things not accepted in my country.
But I know pedophilians don't do their dirty evil in front of worldwide TV cameras

Don't get me wrong, I think the Stuart and Sons letter was uncalled for. It was disrespectful.

I don't know about your personal case, clearly though as we can see the internet has the ability to amplify one grouchy (possibly regretted) communication. Recording it forever, damaging reputations.

Maybe there is also regret from the other side for reading his letter out in public?

As for the Dalai Llama's bizarre behaviour which is possibly a sign of senile dementia is beyond the scope of this thread I suggest!

A nice cinematic piece. Thanks for sharing.

That's a very good demonstration of the percussive and sound FX ambient potential of the extra deep notes/strings.Those extra treble keys were useful here - though you can lean over to play alternative percussion instruments, perhaps a Mark tree along with a piano if you don't have a few hundred thousands to spare!

Also it sounded nice and dynamic in the classic piano octaves.

Great demo.

Ashley's crystal-like 'hail starting to fall after the distant rumble of thunder' section, starting at about 1:27 in that recording, is my favourite demonstration of those extreme high notes. Yes, perhaps a slightly more percussive rather than melodic effect, but the piano is indeed a percussion instrument!

In fact, Ashley has thoroughly explored and experimented with what unique percussive effects you really can get out of a piano, especially the Stuart & Sons model:

Maybe someone should design a piano stool with a seatbelt, to keep the pianist safely seated!

The more I read about this piano the less I have any interest in it! Bosendorfer and/or Fazioli, please!

"The more I read about this.....the less I have any interest in it!"

That's exactly how I feel when people talk about iPhones and the "reality" TV series "Love Island"!!

I certainly agree with you in regards to Bösendorfer and Fazioli. I've never played a Fazioli but would certainly want to. I did manage to get my hands on an Imperial 290 - wonderful bass growl!
