Topic: Updates slow to be released

Hmm...is pianoteq perfect right now?  Did Covid cripple Modarrt?  Lack of employees?  Why no updates for so long?

Re: Updates slow to be released

You mean since the major version increment 5 versions ago or one of the four fixes since then? Do you have any specific problem that needs addressing? That probably is a more constructive way tot get an answer.

Re: Updates slow to be released

As I have learned since 2013 and as I have seen, Modartt team is always working on something.

”Comingf soon. The long awaited app for Apple iOS is in progress and will be compatible with Pianoteq 8.” And then there is Oganteq update coming, probably released after a few months…
They have a lot of work

Best wishes,

Stig

Re: Updates slow to be released

It's bloody good right now. So if say you have found a bug you want to let them know.

I imagine we've got a new instrument or two on the way too.

I kinda expect incremental sound improvements.  Keep thinking some dramatic improvement will be discovered and implemented and blow everyone away.  You may say I'm a dreamer...

Much of the power to improve it is literally already in your hands.

Tweak everything. You want to optimise it for your keyboard velocity response, in your room from your your seating position.

Get busy with the mic positions, keyboard velocity response curves,  the FX. The dynamics slider..

I like what I have and I am looking forward to what is next, somewhat similar to what you just wrote.

That said, I disagree with what you wrote at the beginning of this thread

Looking at its history, there have been times with much longer "silence" than current one:

You're welcome to disagree with what was said.  It was questions anyway...not statements.  But I'll defend your right to disagree (somewhat puzzled)

I read his post and was confused by it too. It seemed as if he was attributing my comments to you as well.

Maybe I misquoted and/or misspoke, so let me clarify.

1) Pianoteq is good but not perfect, and I am looking forward to what they will do next to make it better.

2) The "Why no updates for so long?" and nearby questions seems to imply that in the past updates were more frequent. Looking at the history of the releases show that this is not the case: there are flurry of frequent updates (as we had after 8 was released and then quickly updated several times) and long periods of "silence".

I'm really not implying anything.  But since the scamdemic it seems Modarrt kind of slowed down.  I hear on this forum people having issues getting replies on registration issues...etc... Pianoteq may have reached its pinnacle of success now as far as sound quality goes.  It does sound exceptional especially for its small footprint hardware wise.   You have to admit thought...VSL piano libraries do sound a lot more real.  But look at the hardware requirements...no thanks.

No they did not.

For example they went silent from Dec 2007 to June 2008 and then again silent until Feb 2009. They went silent from June 2011 to Jan 2012. Then again from Nov 2013 to May 2014, and then again from that date to Nov 2014. Even most notably, a very long almost one-year radio silence from Nov 2016 until Sept 2017!!

Your claim that they slowed down is your perception, unsubstantiated by facts. If anything, they ACCELERATED the pace of the developments, with 2 major releases and 28 minor releases since the pandemic!!! Almost 2 major release per year and one minor release per month, TWICE what they were doing before.

If you were paying attention, rather than just superficially skimming through them you would have noticed that they are either people impatient to get an answer very quickly before a business day or two has passed OR people who were sloppy and did not notice that Modartt timely reply ended up in their spam folder.

Wow..the attacks are incredible.  Sure wasn't expecting that.  I'm only a human...I'm perfectly imperfect and limited.  I make mistakes.  I take responsibility for my mistakes and make plans to improve.  I thank everyone for making me the luckiest person on the planet by your efforts to set me straight.  To care so much for me...a perfect stranger...to open yourselves up to me.  I consider myself the luckiest person on this forum.

Sure...I can be selfish.  I can also be impatient.  I'm working on that.  Thanks for pointing this out to me.

Thank you!

Reading this thread, I don't think people were attacking you. Rather, I think they were defending the people at Pianoteq...a technology so many of us treasure...and we also deeply appreciate the dedication and creativity of the amazing people involved. I also found your "scamdemic" comment to be both political and offensive, trivializing a catastrophe in which millions have died. There is really no excuse for comments like that in a Forum devoted to music. Neither your comments about the rate of updates nor the one about the pandemic were supported by facts, and so people appropriately corrected you. I also don't agree that VSL libraries sound more real, even though you claim that I "have to."

This revolting term "Scamdemic" is born out of willful ignorance.
I suspect this is an online troll.

I personally lost a few relatives to Covid-19 and, like you, I have a very low regard for idiots who deny Covid-19.  One of closest friends has a son who is suffering the debilitating effects of long-Covid now.  I just don't understand the mentality of people who cannot accept the reality so many of us witnessed at first hand.

It's notable that the poster who started all this nonsense has nothing but negativity to offer.  Here they complain about a lack of updates which is clearly false, they complain about people attacking them when people are just making the facts clear.  In another post they complained about their bank blocking a payment, which is in no way something Modartt could control or influence or explain - ask your bank !  I don't think I'd describe them as a troll, just a person with their head up their backside.

I also wish to state that before I purchased Pianoteq version 5 I checked out every piano VST I could and found Pianoteq the stand out winner.  It's just my opinion and no-one would describe me as an expert on pianos, but nothing in the multitude of updates in the past years has changed my view.  And also I would like to acknowledge the frequency with which we see Modartt's owners and managers on the site engaging in discussion and acknowledging issues when they are identified.  I've over thirty years dealing with software vendors and this is the best service I've seen.  Many software companies pay little more than lip service to customers, but Modartt has been consistently great.  Finally a big thank you for the Linux support.

I've really lost patience with the person who started with thread.  The Covid-denial thing just disgusts me.

I am very sorry for the losses you have suffered because of the pandemic.

Modartt is extraordinarily generous and accommodating in every aspect of their dealings with customers. They treat us like members of their own community, in fact, not as customers. Their marketing offers are never "salesey" in tone. Rather, they let us know what is available without a trace of pressure or even persuasion. Responses to bug reports and suggestions for improvement are dealt with swiftly and nondefensively. If all companies were more like Modartt the world would be a better place. I've never encountered a company like this one. What they do is clearly a labor of love, and creativity of the highest order, shared with other devotees. Yes, it supports them financially, and they deserve every penny.

I shared the same feeling Barbara . They are passionate about what they do and truly deserve recognition for the quality of the products and the support you get .
