Topic: V-Piano Grand: What to do?

Since this is the most knowledgeable group on the internet regarding all things modeled piano, I thought I'd ask for suggestions and advice regarding what to do with my Roland V-Piano Grand.

Here's the story: I had the good fortune of visiting the Roland factory in Hamamatsu not long after they introduced this amazing instrument. I played it and fell in love. When I got back home, I simply needed to have it, and in our new home, we put it in our "Piano Room" where I've been enjoying it, until... Fast-forward to 2020 and now I'm working from home, turning my beautiful piano room into a home office/piano room and also composition and arranging space (my wife now works from home too). Sadly, the piano is now relegated to being against the wall, tucked into a corner, and sharing space with desk, MIDI keyboards (including my new Numa X-Piano GT which I love... more on that in a comping thread). It's just too crowded in here and the V-Piano is getting the short end of the stick so to speak.

So sadly, I think I need to say goodbye to it, but how? Very few people who shop for digital pianos will understand it, no less listen to it the way all of us do, and so, it would seem hard to get any decent money for it. Of course, piano dealers won't give me what it's worth either. How would I best find the right next owner who will appreciate its value and make a fair offer?: FWIW, I'm located in S. Cal USA so if the right customer is far away, nothing is resolved. I don't know, maybe it will be a blessing to keep it and continue to enjoy it for what it is but with everything being so cramped in here now, it sort of kills the creativity buzz, if you know what I mean.

Any and all advice, suggestions or direction are greatly appreciated.

You could try advertising on Reverb, the music gear trading site. I'm advertising my Yamaha P515 on there at the moment.

Maybe check out Reverb?

Hope this helps,

Warmest regards,

Chris

Re: V-Piano Grand: What to do?

I understand it had a very high quality keyboard action.

So today it is relegated to a controller, but the sound engine owes you nothing. Consider what you are really likely to get for it these days. Compare the feel of your keyboard with the best on the market today. Consider the bulk of those models when sitting on a an appropriate height stand.  Are they really any great space saving?
Do you need those extra few inches?

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Wild variation in price!

I would talk to my piano tuner or any local piano tuner. In my experience, they know the local piano landscape better than anyone and might be able to connect you with a buyer who would appreciate it.

Hope that helps.

Re: V-Piano Grand: What to do?

V-PIANO GRAND engine can he dated by today standarts, but the keys action and speaker system is great, not to mention the great furniture body of baby grand.
And you can always plug Pianoteq on it to use V-piano as a super controller and sound system.

In your place I would try to use it also as a desk, to fit it better in the room.
