Topic: Soluce to convert YAMAHA Smooth release Feature and hear the fx in PTQ

Hi,

YAMAHA N1X and N3X and latest Clavinova,  send polyphonic aftertouch to simulate this (DISKKLAVIER Dialecte) :

Pianoteq can read the Damper position of N1X and N3X, but in 7.5.4, but apply no effect. (Value are not used to simulate damper smooth release)

I've found a way :

1) for any preset used with YAMAHA N1X - N3X, you have to set the NOTE-OFF velocity to :

Note-Off Velocity = [0, 19, 20, 33, 42, 43; 127, 127, 4, 1, 0, 127]

(Yamaha seems to use Polyphonic AFT value 20-33 or 20-40, very subtle)

2) Convert polyphonic Aftertouch to note off, with specific note off velocity :
(here with MIDI PIPE FREEWARE software - only for MAC)

Get free software to convert MIDI data from AvantGrand :

http://www.subtlesoft.square7.net/MidiPipe.html

Configure MIDIPipe like this (few seconds to configure) :

(In Midi out don't forget to select both CHECKBOX : pass and Velocity NOTE-OFF value )

run MIDIPIPE (freeware : no CPU cons. and light ) with Pianoteq N1X .fxp preset with this
NOTE OFF velocity curve :

Note-Off Velocity = [0, 19, 20, 33, 42, 43; 127, 127, 4, 1, 0, 127]

and select MIDI PIPE, midi IN in PIANOTEQ :

Done on MAC OSX
