I skipped a year or so of those series - and after revisiting recently, wow - add "prolific" to the long list of Nahre's praiseworthy works.
Theme recently for me is improvisation (modern vs. pre-romantic era etc.) - this one goes into some interesting areas. Was recently reveling in seeing old hand-written Scarlatti scores and trying to catch on to his notation, inventive etc.. and knowing how in his era, it was 'kind of' like a didactic 'lead sheet' in jazz, rather than notation to be played exactly the same - so maybe this is something we don't see spoken about much these days inre classical music. Found it a realy good intro..
]]>Not that I can get anywhere close to Nahre Sol's wonderful super-fast musical mind and technique (music and demonstrations/videos etc.), but it's always so illuminating and inspiring exploring how people are describing what they know in such helpful ways - and she gives such excellent snapshots of her thinking, esp. how it relates to her ideas for composing.

After Jake posted a couple of fabulous videos of Erroll Garner, it made me want to re-visit esp. the first video below "Bebop, As Digested by a Classical Musician", and follow it with a refresher of Nahre Sol's ideas about "16 Levels of Piano Composition: Easy to Complex".
