Yes tried reducing the duplex scale, but this reduces also the ringing while dampers are lifted. this is not what I want. Because I like this liveliness in the sound.But thanks for your reply
Would really love to try to just reduce the volume of this damping sound, like reducing the volume of a reverb.
As the attack was mentioned yesterday I reinstalled the Ravenscroft again yesterday just to compare, because I remember that some 6 years ago I really liked the sound, but actually directly removed again. I see no more use for me. Playability is not on par with Pianoteq. With my non professional ears I found the Steingraeber quite similar in Sound Characteristic. The attack was not that much "better" than the Pianoteq attack. The one thing where I found it maybe a little bit better was that the Sound felt a little bit more "3dish". But that was all. Not enough to keep on my disk.

INteresting. Some stuff that I have not tried previously altering on pianos on which I enjoy the sound. I did not like the effect of decreasing the Duplex scale, but have often found myself turning off the Reverb because my real room gives me real reverb (I'm listening to speakers and not to earphones). But, for lots of rapid-fire notes, I can see that reducing the damping from 1.00 to as low as 0.85 'cleans things up', but below that [on my system] it sounds too much like an electronic piano.

Yes agree, the attack can improve, probably also the harder part in the physical model. I like the attack of the Steingraeber best, again subjective .
But maybe someone knows if there is a way not to shorten the ringing but just to decrease the volume of that sound. So it is still there but not that present.

If it works for you, that's great - but personally I feel that your modified version sounds less realistic. As you say, though, taste is subjective. The two things that I'm really hoping will improve in the next update are the attack and resonance.

Just wanted to ask if anyone else feels the same. I mean taste is subjective.

On every model I turn down the damping duration to about half. In my opinion it sounds more realistic this way and helps a lot, especially when playing in a Pop /Jazz style with less reverb.

I am not sure, but maybe it would be helpful to adjust the Volume of this damping sound, because it maybe helps a bit "glueing" notes.
Piano is the Steinway Model B, I think Pianoteq nailed this one.
