Yes, I'm a big fan of 7200rpm drives myself. But from what they tell me here that wouldn't make much, if any, difference AFA how well Pianoteq performs, because the program is processor intensive, not memory/hard drive intensive. I upgraded my memory from 1gb to 2gb and it didn't make any difference that I could see.

That's not to say that a 7200rpm drive wouldn't be good for other apps- it probably would be.

I think that most everyone is busy with the holidays. But, yes, a dual core with that speed will boost things considerably. On the other hand, computers often go down in price after the holidays--suddenly everything is an older model. Might be worth waiting for to get still better performance.

Happy Holidays All

Presently I've got a Dell Latitude D610 Pentium M at 2.13Ghz and I get a performance index of 16. I'm looking at some reconditioned Dell Core2Duo's at 1.8-2.2Ghz for a possible replacement.

Can anyone tell me if I'd see a performance boost with a Core2Duo in this range, or should I save up for a more robust machine?
